"He’s a very proud dad": Unearthed snap of Michael Schumacher stuns fans

Max Verstappen has shared never been seen photos of Michael Schumacher with the world.

The back-to-back Formula 1 world champion is currently preparing to secure a third straight crown for Red Bull in 2023.

Before the season begins, F1 fans are being treated to a sneak peek behind the curtain as Netflix’s smash hit Drive to Survive releases its fifth season.

Verstappen is heavily featured throughout episode four of the new season, which was released globally on February 24, focusing primarily on former Haas driver Mick Schumacher.

The episode, titled Like Father, Like Son?, brings to light the struggles the famous young racer endured before he was let go by the Haas team.

However, it's Verstappen who once again steals the show as he shares what it was like to grow up alongside the Schumacher family.

Max’s father, Jos, was teammates with Michael at Benetton, with an old interview filmed in the 2000s showing the pair being asked if they would let their kids become F1 drivers.

“I think this could be the first time we have an argument if our two would be racing,” says the German.

It’s what came next that stole the hearts of many, leaving F1 fans stunned. As Max talks about the relationship between the two families, a clip of Max as a toddler interacting with Michael is played before a never been seen photo flashes on the screen.

“We used to go on holidays when we were little together, the two families, and these kind of memories will stay with me,” explains Max, who is now a 35-time race winner in F1.

“For both of us to be in F1 is amazing and also for Michael, he’s a very proud dad for sure.”

The image shows Michael sitting on a hanging chair with baby Max on one knee and his daughter, Gina-Maria, on the other.

Mick was replaced by F1 journeyman Nico Hulkenberg and will have to sit out 2023 as a reserve driver at Mercedes behind Sir Lewis Hamilton and his teammate George Russell.

Drive to Survive charts Mick’s difficult sophomore season in 2022, including his horror 170mph incident in Saudi Arabia.

Mick’s rough year saw him outscored by his teammate, the returning Danish veteran Kevin Magnussen.

The Netflix series focuses on Mick’s struggles and the pressure that came with racing under the Schumacher name.

“Mick has the lineage of one of the greatest drivers the sport has ever seen,” said F1 journalist Will Buxton.

“But it remains to be seen if he has the same character as his dad.”

Haas boss Steiner said the Schumacher name was a “blessing and a curse” for Mick.

But in characteristically non-nonsense fashion, the famously foul-mouthed team principal says at some point the young German will have “stand up” and be his “own man”.

Mick outlines the struggles surrounding pressure on the show, including the admission “dreams don’t always come true”.

His dad is one of the most renowned F1 drivers of all time, rising to power in the 90s and going on to dominate the sport by the early 2000s.

He raced from 1991 to 2006 and again from 2010 to 2012, a second act of his racing career which became instrumental in setting up the dominant Mercedes team.

The German won five world championships with Ferrari and two for Benetton.

Schumacher retired in 2012, but a year later, he was involved in a life-changing skiing accident while on the slopes with Mick.

He was left in a medically induced coma before being sent home, and no further information has been revealed since the incident.

His family, led by his wife Corinna, protect Michael’s privacy and offer him a quiet life.

There have only been hints and cryptic rumours about Schumacher’s health, with information being drip-fed by friends and anonymous sources.

Lost song featuring The Beatles unearthed

A previously unheard song featuring George Harrison and Ringo Starr has been discovered in a Birmingham loft during lockdown.

The song, titled Radhe Shaam, was written and produced by broadcaster Suresh Joshi in 1968 and features George on guitar and Ringo on drums at the height of their fame.

The track was unearthed in Suresh’s home by a friend who was checking up on him during lockdown, and was played for 100 people at the Liverpool Beatles Museum.

Mr Joshi was a good friend of George Harrison’s and was the one who introduced him to Ravi Shankar: one of India’s most celebrated musicians.

He was a big influence on the Beatle and famously taught him to play the sitar.

The broadcaster was working on music for a documentary film in London at the time the song was recorded, when George Harrison and Ringo Starr turned up and offered to play.

The pair were taking a break from recording Hey Jude at the same Trident Studios in London’s Soho at the time.

The track also featured renowned Indian classical musician Aashish Khan, but Suresh Joshi said he never got round to releasing it to the public.

"Time had gone on, [then] The Beatles were breaking up and had various problems so no-one wanted to [release it]," he said to the BBC.

However he said the coronavirus lockdown was a "blessing in disguise as we had nothing to do".

Despite the track being locked away, Mr Joshi said the song is still relevant to today’s audiences.

"The song itself revolves around the concept that we are all one, and that the world is our oyster," he said.

"[That is] something that we have all realised during this pandemic."

William Tyrrell investigation unearths potential new evidence

NSW Police have been spotted bagging potential new evidence at the search site in Kendall as the investigation into William Tyrrell's disappearance continues.

Investigators were seen placing a small piece of cloth into an evidence bag on the fifth day of renewed search efforts for the missing child.

The potential evidence was reportedly found while scouring a piece of bushland on Batar Creek Rd, about a kilometre from the Kendall home where William was last seen.

The cloth was bagged close to a nearby creek, which is being drained as a part of the ongoing search.

A police spokesperson at the scene said the cloth was light blue in colour and measured about 8x8cm.

The potential evidence will be sent off for testing, as police continue a range of new tactics in their search.

This is only the second time in the past five days that police on site have been seen bagging potential evidence, as two pieces of seemingly degraded material were collected on Wednesday.

Investigators have produced a sample of a Spider-Man costume - the same outfit William was last seen in - ands used it to compare against the threads found.

A police spokesperson said it could be days before the test results from the items are confirmed.

Joining the search near the creek for any evidence of William's disappearance if hydrologist Professor Jon Olley, who found murdered Queensland schoolboy Daniel Morcombe’s remains in 2011.

Jon, along with NSW Police, have bee searching through the mud for any clues that relate to William's disappearance.

A NSW Police spokesperson told news.com.au draining nearby water sources is standard practice in these types of searches.

Investigators have temporarily wrapped up the site in black tarps in an attempt to protect it from anticipated storms.

Seven bodies unearthed in Gabby Petito case

Authorities have unearthed multiple sets of human remains while searching for Brian Laundrie in Florida, prompting a wave of conspiracy theories to emerge in response.

FBI Special Agent Michael McPherson said that some of the remains were found during a search of the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park and Carlton Reserve, south of Tampa, Florida, not far from Laundrie's parents' home. The shocking find comes after weeks of searching for Laundrie, who is considered a person of interest in Gabby Petito’s disappearance and death.

In addition to the remains, authorities also found a backpack and a notebook that they believe belonged to Laundrie, which up until recently were submerged in water. This has led armchair sleuths online to conclude that the most recent set of remains found belongs to Laundrie himself.

Authorities have been searching for Laundrie for over a month; Gabby was reported missing on September 11, Laundrie was last seen on September 14, and Gabby’s body was found on September 19.

In addition to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park and Carlton Reserve remains, the uncovering of several bodies around the country during the search has people wondering if the cases are connected. Two of the bodies that authorities found were initially flagged as potentially being linked to the case because they had been found near where the couple had been travelling. Meanwhile, a seventh body, belonging to a woman who went missing in Colorado near where the couple had been in early July, was found this week.

These coincidences appear to some like a spree on Laundrie’s part, while others have pointed out that uncovering this many bodies in national parks is not “statistically significant”, and that the increase can largely be attributed to things like increased police presence and authorities receiving more tips from the public than usual.

One Reddit user wrote, “This is all coincidence. People here are hyper-focused on certain parts of the country right now so they think anything that happens is relevant.”

Other bodies found include a married couple who were found murdered in Utah, a man who died by suicide in Wyoming, and a woman who disappeared in California in June.

Image: Gabby Petito/Instagram

Rare photos from dingo expert unearthed that show Lindy Chamberlain’s innocence

Lindy Chamberlain’s world was turned upside down in August 1980, when she was jailed for the disappearance of her nine-month-old daughter Azaria.

Lindy insisted a dingo took her daughter from their camping spot at Uluru, but many refused to believe the lack of evidence that pointed to a wild dog attack.

Lindy served three years in jail over Azaria’s death, before being pardoned and set free when new evidence arose.

Despite many doubting Lindy’s story, one man named Les Harris, an aeronautical engineer and part-time dingo expert, repeatedly tried to give the courts valuable evidence that would clear Lindy’s name.

Now, 30 years on, a trove of material he collected throughout the case proceedings, including photographs and a dingo skull, will go under the hammer at an auction house.

Among the valuable documents are statements he made explaining how dingoes can easily hold the weight of a baby without dragging it, could have removed clothes using their teeth, and eat their prey whole - with not even bones remaining.

Les Harris was the president of The Dingo Foundation in the early 1980s and based his evidence on his extensive knowledge of Australia’s wild dog.

He was interviewed for a documentary produced by Network Ten and screened in 1984 called Azaria: A Question of Evidence.

“Based on the factual evidence available at the very time that this happened, we believe that the probability that a dingo, took, killed and carried off Azaria Chamberlain, is of such a high order as to be nearly a certainty,” Harris said.

During Lindy’s court proceedings, Les was constantly rebuffed as he tried to share this valuable information.

He wrote to magistrates and judges explaining why a dingo was almost certainly responsible for Azaria's death but his efforts were largely ignored.

Harris’s collection of valuable material on Azaria’s death will be sold by Sydney Rare Book Auctions, some years after his death in the New England region of New South Wales.

Harris was firmly among those who believed the Chamberlains had nothing to do with the tragic death of their daughter, which became one of the most high-profile cases in Australia.

The devastating reality behind Steve Irwin’s unearthed letter

A bitter family feud has taken centre stage after Bindi Irwin accused her grandfather of psychologically abusing her.

The embattled family’s long standing issues are a far cry from the heartbreaking letter uncovered in 2016.

It was a note Steve wrote when he was 32, and in it he detailed his gratitude for his parents and their strength.

Image: Supplied

“At 32, I am finally starting to figure it out. In good times and in bad, you were there. Your strength and endurance to raise me will not go unrewarded. My love for you is my strength,” the legendary croc hunter penned.

“For the rest of my life I will reflect on the unbelievably GREAT times we’ve shared and will continue to share. You’re my best friends!”

Irwin’s letter would not be found for almost a decade, but four years after writing it, the conservationist would give birth to his daughter Bindi with Robert closely following behind.

Image: Supplied

Today’s bitter feud is nothing short of devastating, with Bindi insisting her grandfather has never had a kind word to say about her.

The star made the unsettling allegations against Bob in her Father’s Day post (Father’s Day outside of Australia was June 20), which she dedicated to her own father, her husband, Chandler Powell, and her father-in-law.

When Bindi was asked why she left Bob out of the tribute, the new mum did not hold back in her reply.

“Unfortunately my grandfather Bob has shown no interest in spending time with me or my family,” she wrote.

“He has returned gifts I’ve sent him after he opened them, he has ignored my correspondence and from the time I was a little girl he has ignored me, preferring to spend time doing anything else rather than being with me.

“He has never said a single kind word to me personally. It breaks my heart but it is not healthy to engage in an abusive relationship.

Image: Supplied

“I hope everyone remembers to be kind to one another but most of all care for your own mental health,” she added.

“I have struggled with this relationship my entire life and it brings me enormous pain.”

Close friends and family members of Bob Irwin quickly rebutted the claims, including his biographer Amanda French.

French, who co-wrote Bob’s 2016 autobiography The Last Crocodile Hunter, spoke to Brisbane radio show Stav, Abby and Matt to express her immense grief over Bindi’s comments.

According to Amanda, Bob resigned from Australia Zoo in 2008 and hasn’t seen his grandkids since.

“It’s a surprise with what Bindi came out and said. There were some pretty weighty terms that were thrown around, psychological abuse and all that stuff. You’d have to have some pretty big evidence to back that. It’s a pretty big call to make,” she said.

Another member of the Irwin family, Bethany Wheeler, went on to angrily dispute Bindi’s claims in a Facebook post.

Bethany revealed that she is the “the granddaughter of Bob Irwin via marriage of my father and my Stepmother Mandy as a very young child.”

She went on to call Bob “the most genuinely beautiful human on this planet and has NEVER spoken out or put down anybody! He is a man who sits silently and battles his demons alone, in what is great sadness. He doesn’t retaliate, only prays for his grandchildren’s safety and good lives.”

Wheeler wrote that her “sisters and brothers will happily back me up when I say that Bob Irwin is a passive and beautiful human and these lies need to stop”.

Image: Supplied

Amanda revealed Bob and Terri Irwin’s relationship suffered after the death of Steve, as the conservationist’s father did not agree with how management quickly began to change.

“He’s maintained a very neutral position about it [resigning] even when he published his autobiography.

“The reason why he did that is because he knew there would be consequences for Australia Zoo. He didn’t see eye-to-eye on issues to do with Australia Zoo at the time and some of the animals.”

In the wake of the international media storm, Bindi announced she would be “taking a break” from social media as a means to protect her mental health.

“I’m taking a break from social media and most of my work in the public eye for a month to be with my beautiful daughter and my wonderful family,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I feel tremendously grateful to share our life and conservation work with you but I need some time to focus on the happiness that is my family (both human and animal).”

Terri Irwin also posted a cryptic yet seemingly pointed message on her own social media.

Taking to Twitter, she shared a post about “avoiding certain people” just days after the family’s feud made headlines.

The full quote was penned by author and military veteran Steve Maraboli, and reads: “Avoiding certain people to protect your mental health is not a weakness … It’s wisdom.”

She captioned the snap, “Thank you @SteveMaraboli. Another jewel. Caring for others seems to be easier than caring for ourselves.

“It takes courage to follow through on what we know is the right thing to do. Wishing everyone the best to be brave and wise. It’s worth it!”

Secret doorway from 17th century unearthed in parliament

A secret doorway dating back more than 350 years has been discovered in the House of Commons in the UK.

The entrance, once used regularly, is believed to have been one diarist Samuel Pepys and Robert Walpole, the first de facto prime minister used as a means to get in and out of parliament.

The hidden walkway was found as part of the ongoing AU$7.8 billion restoration project in parliament and was originally created for Charles II's coronation in 1660, so guests could go to the new king's celebratory banquet.

Later, MPs used it to access the Commons, which was originally held in the medieval Palace of Westminster before a fire broke out in the 19th century and ripped apart a good amount of the structure.

Westminster Hall was the only part to survive, and it would be where those at the helm of restoring a once well-used part of parliament would discover the secret doorway.

For the last 70 years, it has sat stagnant and forgotten about, hidden behind wooden panelling in a cloister that was formerly used as offices by the Labour Party.

Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle said: "To think that this walkway has been used by so many important people over the centuries is incredible.

"I am so proud of our staff for making this discovery and I really hope this space is celebrated for what it is - a part of our parliamentary history."

Graffiti written by bricklayers who helped architect Sir Charles Barry restore the palace in the wake of the 1834 fire was also found in the room.

One sentence, dated 1851, reads: "This room was enclosed by Tom Porter who was very fond of Ould Ale."

Scroll through the gallery to see the hidden walkway found in parliament.

Images: UK Parliament

Unless he happens to be shorter than you.”

Other suggestions included going on a diet “if you need to” and making yourself stand out from a crowd by dressing differently than other women.

Photo: Facebook - Kim Marx-Kuczynski

And if you’re someone who just can’t seem to find a single man, then according to the writers, buying a dog and taking it for a walk will help you come across one.

But if that doesn’t work then don’t fear, as the list also included: “Looking in the census reports for places with the most single men”, having your car break down in certain locations, working as a doctor, dentist or lawyer so you can be around educated, rich men, and reading obituaries to find widowers.

To finish off the ridiculous article, the final section was titled “How to land him".

From chatting to your date’s father about business or researching his exes to avoid “repeating the mistakes they made”, the advice just kept getting more and more bizarre.

The vintage article gathered a lot of mixed reactions on Facebook with one saying, “In this day and age it looks more like a manual of how to get kidnapped!”

“So, apparently, I’m doing a LOT wrong, is that why I don’t have a husband?!” questioned one woman jokingly.

Others wondered if the story was real or was it written as satire, while others joked saying they had “been doing it wrong for years".

“Thank God for the women’s movement!” said one user.

“Wow – finding a man is not for the faint of heart!” wrote another.

What do you think of this dating advice from the 1950s? Unearthed tapes reveal Princess Diana’s marriage heartbreak

Their marriage has been – and continues to be – a source of great curiosity for many, but as an updated edition of Andrew Morton’s explosive biography (Diana: Her True Story) reveals, Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ relationship was darker and more fractured than anyone could have imagined.

Unearthed transcripts of tapes recorded by the heartbroken Princess have highlighted how quickly her hopes for a happy marriage were dashed by her new husband and his lingering feelings for Camilla Parker Bowles.

“We got married on Wednesday,” she recalled. “On the Monday (July 27, 1981), we had gone to St Paul's for our last rehearsal, and that's when the camera lights were on full and I got a sense of what the day was going to be.

“And I sobbed my eyes out. I absolutely collapsed and it was because of all sorts of things. The Camilla thing rearing its head the whole way through our engagement.”

Despite attempting to keep a cool head throughout the engagement, Diana confessed she felt lonely, and that she had no one to talk to about the difficulties she was going through in her relationship – let alone while struggling with bulimia the night before her big day.

“I had a very bad fit of bulimia the night before,” she revealed. “Nobody understood what was going on there. It was very hush-hush. I was sick as a parrot that night. It was such an indication of what was going on.”

When their wedding day finally arrived, Diana perked up and began to look forward to her future with Charles. “I remember being so in love with my husband that I couldn't take my eyes off him. I just absolutely thought I was the luckiest girl in the world. He was going to look after me. Well, was I wrong on that assumption!”

Throughout their wedding night and well into their honeymoon, Diana admitted the “Camilla thing” was constantly on her mind. “I was obsessed by Camilla totally,” she confessed. “I didn't trust [Charles] – though every five minutes he was ringing her up, asking how to handle his marriage.”

Sadly, for Diana, the constant worrying about her marriage only made her bulimia worse. Just months into their marriage, people began commenting on her gaunt appearance, and she took drastic measures to try and dull the emotional pain.

“I was so depressed, and I was trying to cut my wrists with razor blades,” she heartbreakingly recalled of the couple’s time at Balmoral.

She returned to London early to seek treatment and shortly learned she was pregnant with William – something which became a great source of comfort and excitement for the Princess.

To read more, click here to pre-order Diana: Her True Story by Andrew Morton.
