The former nanny to Prince William and Prince Harry will reportedly be paid damages over claims BBC reporter Martin Bashir alleged she had an affair with Prince Charles that resulted in her aborting his child. Investigations into how Bashir secured the tell-all 1995 interview with Princess Diana found that Bashir had faked an abortion receipt for Tiggy Pettifer - née Legge-Bourke. Bashir told Diana that Charles was in love with the nanny, claiming the pair went on a holiday together for two weeks. A source told <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2021/09/17/former-royal-nanny-offered-significant-damages-bbc-martin-bashir/" target="_blank">The Telegraph</a> that the BBC will pay Ms Pettifer £100,000 ($NZD 195, 835) in damages after acknowledging the suffering that resulted from the false claims. “Tiggy Legge-Bourke was right at the centre of Bashir’s manipulation and it is right that the damage caused to her is recognised by the BBC,” the source told the publication. At the time of Bashir’s interview, Diana’s friend Rosa Monckton confirmed in The Daily Mail that Bashir’s claims had had a significant impact on the princess. “Diana changed from being very concerned with day-to-day matters, just like any normal friend, to suddenly becoming obsessed with plots against her,” she wrote at the time. Ms Monckton said Diana had also become “obsessed” with the idea that Prince Charles was having an affair with Ms Pettifer and believed claims the nanny was pregnant. The abortion and affair claims were some of the alleged underhanded methods Bashir used to secure the interview. Since the allegations have come to light, Bashir has stood down from the BBC. Ms Pettifer was hired by Prince Chales as a nanny shortly after he and Diana separated in 1993. Ms Pettifer would join the family on holidays and has maintained a close relationship with the royals, especially with the princes. Reports have revealed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were “put off” hiring nannies after a bizarre “incident with a night nanny”. In the event after Archie’s birth, the couple hired help to aid in the toddler’s bedroom routine. <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/meghan-markle-put-off-childcare-24175073" target="_blank">According to The Mirror,</a> author of Finding Freedom and rumoured friend of Meghan’s Omid Scobie told Channel 4, they had to fire the nanny just days into their employment. “Very few people know the real story behind it,” he revealed on the broadcaster’s documentary A Very Royal Baby: From Cradle to Crown. “After Archie’s arrival, Harry and Meghan wanted some help to establish a sleep pattern. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly then looked for someone in the day. “They moved onto number three. Which was a woman that worked for them for quite some time actually, until they moved to California,” Scobie said. “She helped them out on very much a 9-5 basis, and it was a great working relationship actually despite reports.” The royal family routinely uses nannies for day-to-day duties, and Prince William and Prince Harry are still very close to their childhood carer.

Meghan and Harry fired baby Archie's nanny in the middle of the night

In Omid Scoobie and Carolyn Durand’s new book Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, it has been revealed that Meghan and Prince Harry let go of Archie’s nanny in the middle of the night. In the book, which details all the ins and outs of Meghan and Harry’s relationship, Scoobie and Durand claim the royals fired their night nurse for their son Archie Mountbatten Windsor. While the personal details were not expressed, the author’s claim it was because the aide was “unprofessional and irresponsible.” “Meghan and Harry were forced to let the nurse go in the middle of her second night of work for being unprofessional and irresponsible,” the book claims. The couple went on to hire another night nurse who did a “fine job,” however neither Meghan or Harry felt comfortable leaving their son in the care of another nanny due to the traumatising experience they had with their first one. Mother sacks babysitter over disturbing nanny cam footage

A mother has not been able to hold back her disgust after sacking her nanny. The mum said that she was shocked to discover that the nanny she hired to look after her 10-month-old son and five-year-old daughter had secretly been breastfeeding the son. The nanny started attempting to nurse the baby after the mother had confided in her about her issues with breastfeeding. “During a conversation that we had recently (maybe two weeks ago), I mentioned that I don’t produce much milk which forces me to rely on donor milk to feed my son,” the mum confessed <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/hnm9j2/wibta_if_i_fired_my_nanny_for_breastfeeding_my_son/" target="_blank" class="_e75a791d-denali-editor-page-rtflink">in the Reddit post</a>. “She was very sympathetic and inquisitive about the situation, and I was happy to answer all of her questions while simultaneously thinking nothing of it.” It was only after the mother checked the nanny cams that were set up in the house that she made the discovery. “I have nanny cameras set up in the living room and in my bedroom that my husband and I can access at anytime when we’re not home, but I never feel compelled to check for the simple fact that I trust my nanny,” she explained. “However, I was having a rough day yesterday and wanted to see what the little ones were up to so I decided to pop in. My nanny was sitting on my bed, rocking my son, and attempting to breastfeed him. “I almost felt sick, it just seemed so inappropriate. I decided to wait until I got home to confront her about it, and when I asked she was incredibly apologetic. She said she wanted to help me because of my milk production issues and never meant any harm.” The mother initially accepted the apology, but became suspicious and went through old footage. To her horror, she discovered that the nanny breastfeeding her son wasn't a one-off occurrence. “She unplugs the camera in my bedroom when she goes to put him down for naps and plugs it back in when she leaves,” she added. “After reviewing our recordings this wasn’t the first time she attempted to breastfeed my son, among a few other questionable things (closing my daughter in the pantry, leaving my son in the backyard unattended, etc).” If that's not bad enough, the mother also discovered that some treasured baby items were missing. “A couple of my son’s first outfits (first onesie, first Halloween costume) were gone as well as a small blanket that belonged to my daughter, and a box of old baby clothes I was going to donate,” she added. “These were returned to me by [the nanny’s] father minus the blanket because she can’t find it.” The mother said she’s been left "heartbroken" by the incident. “We’ve decided to let her go, obviously, and I’m going to be taking a few weeks of leave to take my kids in for check-ups,” she added. “My husband and I are horrified and heartbroken that we facilitated a situation in which our children’s safety was put at risk.”

The Nanny had six wildly successful years between 1993-199 and ended with Fran Fine (who was played by creator Fran Drescher) married to her boss Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy). Niles settled down with his former arch rival — and Mr Sheffield’s colleague — C.C. But I had to play it, because that’s what they wrote ... I don’t think I’ve ever expressed that to anyone before!” The 70-year-old originally thought that the odd pairing may mean an extended future for C.C. and Niles. “The only reason I thought it could have worked would be if they were planning a spin-off, like The Niles and C.C. Show, which I would have loved — but they didn’t go with that idea.” He may not have liked it, but Davis can still understand why the writers felt the need to have the butler and C.C. live happily ever after. “I guess they were just wanting to tie up the loose ends.” The characters small feuds in the show became a cornerstone of the program - making it the unforgettable classic that it is today. “The luckiest thing that could have possibly happened was that we knew each other for six years before The Nanny,” Davis said. “Once I realised she was going to play that part [C.C.], it was just so natural. We had an ease so we just were the perfect fit, right from day one.” Niles was famous for his quick quips and one-liners, and a lot of that wit was actually inspired by the actor’s true self. “The writers watched me carefully in the early days of the show,” he explained. “They started to write in my voice. And because I have a wicked side to my humour, they picked up on it.” While Davis loved his experience on the show, there was one star who didn’t quite agree. “It wasn’t a fun experience,” Madeline Zima, who played little Gracie Sheffield, told The TV Page in 2013. “There was just a kindness and a sensitivity that didn’t exist on the set of The Nanny. They treated me more like a prop than like a human being.” Davis believes it boiled down to Zima’s attitude. “There was always the sense with Madeline that she was just an unhappy child — it was her nature. It was noticeable,” he explained. “I think the writers picked up on her unhappiness, and they wrote it into her character ... It’s why Gracie always seemed unhappy and was in therapy.”

The Nanny cast reunites for virtual pilot re-enactment

The cast of beloved ‘90s sitcom The Nanny has come together for a YouTube reunion, more than 20 years after the show aired its final episode. Fran Drescher and 13 of her former co-stars gathered via video conferencing platform Zoom for a reading of the show’s 1993 pilot amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Titled “The Nanny Episode 1: Pandemic Table Read”, the 33-minute video posted to YouTube featured Drescher as the main character Fran Fine, Charles Shaughnessy (Maxwell Sheffield), Daniel Davis (Niles), Lauren Lane (C.C. Royal insiders have confirmed that the nanny chosen by both the new parents for baby Archie has been made to sign an “extensive” non-disclosure agreement, as reported by The Sun. Katie Nicholl, royal biographer, told <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.etonline.com/inside-meghan-markles-new-life-as-a-mom-nannies-new-bling-ndas-126864" target="_blank">ET</a> that the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland has since returned to her home in the US and professional care has stepped in to take on duties for the newest royal addition. “I’ve heard from very reliable sources that the new nanny who has been appointed by the Sussexes has had to sign quite an extensive non-disclosure agreement,” she explained. Along with hiring help to look after Archie, Nicholl added the Duchess has had a number of sleepless nights. “Meghan’s been up in the night nursing, feeding on demand every few hours. “Apparently he’s a hungry little baby.” A royal historian stepped forward this week to claim the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would opt for a non-traditional nanny. Research shows that $5.54 billion is added to the Australian economy by unpaid carers and $1.26 billion from unpaid childcare provided by the over 50s. It is a very natural, altruistic and noble intention to want to help your children in this way and research published in May this year by the University of Melbourne revealed that it can be good for you. The study found postmenopausal women who took care of their grandchildren one day a week had better memory and faster cognitive speed than those who didn’t. Balancing yours and your children’s needs The researchers however carry a warning about over-using the generous nature of grandparents noting that women who cared for grandchildren five or more days a week had significantly slower processing speed and planning scores, possibly because they felt exhausted and stressed. National Seniors CEO, Michael O’Neill says it’s important for grandparents to aim for a balance in enjoying their retirement years and providing support to their children. “It’s about balance and not giving up on your dreams, expectations and goals to achieve. Those goals shouldn’t be subsumed by the demands of a younger generation". However, the economic reality is that there is an increasing reliance on grandparents for childcare assistance in dual income families and so here are some good ideas for negotiating the babysitting/caring parameters successfully: Tips for setting babysitting boundaries Set limits early on – you might even like to start the conversation with your adult child before your grandchild is born <ul> <li>Consider how far in advance of sitting time you'd like to be approached. If you prefer a week’s notice and not same-day requests </li> <li>Let your children know in advance if you are okay with taking grandchildren to doctor’s appointments or something similar.</li> <li>Let your children know if you are comfortable with supervising homework/study.</li> <li>Set time parameters around drop-off and pick-up </li> <li>School holiday arrangements need to be set early and be clear about school holiday activities i.e. signing grandkids up to camps/classes etc.</li> <li>Will you have grandchildren for sleepovers or not?</li> <li>Will playdates need to be arranged?</li> </ul> More ideas for stress-free babysitting <ul> <li>If you have a skill or hobby that you are talented at share this with your grandkids where appropriate</li> <li>Decide if and/or how you will deliver discipline. Doesn’t sound like a bad job, especially when you come to realise that she gets to live in Kensington Palace. However, there is one word that the royal nanny is banned from saying. Maria Borrallo has trained at the famous Norland College in Bath. This is one of the country’s top child training facilities available. As a part of Borallo’s education and subsequent duties as a royal nanny, she must never utter the word ‘kids’. According to a documentary maker who studied at the college that Borrallo attended, it’s meant as a “mark of respect towards the children as individuals”. Nanny’s Christmas pudding

An Over60 community member shares her recipe for a scrumptious traditional Christmas pudding. Serves: Eight to 10 Preparation time: 45 minutes Cooking time: Seven hours Ingredients 375 grams seeded raisins, chopped 375 grams sultanas 250 grams currants 185 grams prunes, chopped 185 grams mixed peel, chopped Rind of one lemon, finely grated 90 grams blanched almonds, chopped 1 large carrot, coarsely grated 4 ¼ cups soft white breadcrumbs 1 cup sugar 1 cup plain flour ½ teaspoon of salt ½ teaspoon of nutmeg 1 teaspoon of mixed spice 4 eggs ¾ cup milk ½ cup brandy ½ cup stout 250 grams butter, melted Instructions 1. Grease two one-litre basins (or one two-litre basin). 2. Mix together in a large bowl the raisins, sultanas, currants, prunes, mixed peel, lemon rind, almonds, carrot, breadcrumbs and sugar. 3. Sift into the mixture the flour with the salt, nutmeg and mixed spice. 4. In another bowl, lightly beat the eggs and then slowly beat in the milk, brandy, stout and melted butter. Pour this into the bowl of fruit and stir. 5. Fill the prepared basin/s leaving about one centimetre at the top. 6. Cut a round of both greaseproof paper and foil and place over the top of the basin/s. 7. Use some string and tie it around the basin/s – make sure you leave a large loop at the top once you’ve tied it up so you can easily pull the string to take the basin in and out of the boiling water. 8. Place an old plate in the bottom of a large saucepan half filled with boiling water. Carefully place the pudding basin in the pan. Make sure the water only comes two-thirds of the way up the sides of the basin. 9. Place the lid on the pan and gently boil for five hours for the large pudding or three hours for two smaller ones. As the water evaporates as it’s boiling, top it up with more boiling water. 10. On the day that pudding is due to be served, boil for a further two hours prior to serving.

One of your favourite sitcoms could be returning after 18 years, with the television program’s iconic star teasing a reboot of the hilarious TV show. Fran Drescher, the actress and producer behind The Nanny, has teased a return to the screen in an interview with Closer Weekly in the US. “As far as a reboot goes, I would be open to it if somebody wanted to do it — but if nobody wants to do it, then I'm currently trying to develop something else," the 60-year-old said. Drescher confirmed she is still in touch with castmates. "I am in touch definitely,” she said of former colleagues. “Renée Taylor (Sylvia Fine) is a good friend of mine, Charlie [Shaughnessy] (Maxwell Sheffield) is a good friend of mine. Recently I reconnected with Nicholle Tom (Maggie Sheffield), and periodically I speak to everyone, but I'm very good friends with Charlie and Renée, for sure,” she said. A mother has lived every parent’s worst nightmare after she found footage of her nanny abusing her baby. Annemarie Theron started becoming suspicious of her nanny after noticing some bruises on her nine-month-old daughter Laila. Although the nanny had come highly recommended by friends and family, Annemarie and her husband soon noticed their daughter seemed afraid of the nanny. They set up a hidden camera to monitor the minder and what they saw will strike fear into any person’s heart. I can see Laila is so, so broken after everything,” she said. For six years, millions of viewers followed the story of beautician Fran Fine who was accidentally hired as a nanny by widower Maxwell Sheffield. In 1993, The Nanny had a rocky start and was almost cancelled before becoming a hit until its final season in 1999. Fran Fine had an entertaining flirtation with boss Mr Sheffield but once they finally got together the ratings plummeted. Fran Drescher was nominated for two Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards during the shows’ lifetime. Since starring as the nanny, she has been in Living With Fran, Happily Divorced, Hotel Transylvania 1 & 2 and The Simpsons. Charles Shaughnessy who played Mr Sheffield since appeared in Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Stargate SG-1, Law & Order: SVU and Hannah Montana. Since the show ended, 39-year-old Nicholle Tom has been in Ice Angel, Panic, Burn Notice, Criminal Minds and The Princess Diaries. 35-year-old Benjamin Salisbury appeared in The Nanny reunion in 2004 and featured in a Numb3rs episode and a Domino’s Pizza commercial. The storyline that killed off “The Nanny”

In a recent interview with Studio 10, former star of The Nanny, Fran Drescher, has dished on all the secrets from the set of this hit '90s sitcom, including the storyline she believes led to the show’s demise. The now 59-year-old appeared on Ten’s morning show on Wednesday with her ex-husband (and close friend) Peter Marc Jacobson, reminiscing about her time on the program. According to Drescher, the romance between protagonists Fran Fine and Maxwell Sheffield was ultimately what killed the show. “When a show is built around a love that can't happen, sexual tension, you have to keep it that way,” Jacobson, co-creator of The Nanny with Drescher, explained. “As much as you want the people to get together, as soon as they do, people start tuning out.” And, if you look at the ratings, it’s hard to argue with her. The show, which ran from 1993 to 1999, experienced a sharp decline in ratings after the storyline was introduced. Ironically, the drop came right after the producers succumbed to the network’s threats of cancellation after experiencing a small dip in ratings. As for the possibility of a Nanny comeback? Drescher hasn’t ruled it out. “We wouldn’t do it for the money,” she said. “We would do it because we cracked the code on how to tell the story 20 years later.” “And make it interesting. I set a very high standard. At this stage of my life, it has to make my heart sing. As Peter said, once the sexual tension is gone, now she is the wife, there went the series. So, to go back... Ann Morgan Guilbert, Grandma Yetta on “The Nanny” dies aged 87

Celebrated actress Ann Morgan Guilbert, best known for her role in the hit TV series The Nanny, has passed away at the age of 87 after a battle with cancer. After beginning her career in the 1958, Guilbert first found fame as Millie Helper in the iconic 1960s sitcom, The Dick Van Dyke Show. She also made appearances on I Dream of Jeannie, The Partridge Family and Cheers, but the role which made her a star was Fran Drescher’s sassy Grandma Yetta in The Nanny. Since leaving the show, Guilbert appeared on shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Modern Family and in 2004, reunited with the cast of The Nanny for a one-hour television special. Co-star Fran Drescher shared this sweet photo from the set with the caption, “I feel so sad about Annie. She was brilliant as my Grandma Yetta. Royal chef reveals Princess Diana’s secret battle with the nanny

She was beloved by all who met her, but new details have been released claiming there was one person in particular Princess Diana did not see eye to eye with – the nanny. The royals’ chef at the time, Darren McGrady, told <a href="http://www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/2016052731654/royal-chef-darren-mcgrady-princess-diana-william-harry/" target="_blank">HELLO!</a> that Diana often clashed with the nanny when it came to Princes William and Harry’s diets. “She wasn't strict at all,” he said. “She let them be boys, young boys! There was always a battle between her and Nanny. Nanny would say, ‘No, they're eating their dinner, they're having cabbage.’ and the Princess would say, ‘No, if they're with me and they want loaded potato skins and fried chicken then they can have that. And if they don't eat it and they still want pudding, they can have that too!’ She was much more relaxed than Nanny.” McGrady explained that even though they were royal children, they still wanted to eat like every other kid their age – banana desserts were their favourites, as were burgers and pizza. However, the boys’ love of junk food never influenced Diana, who never strayed far from her strict, healthy diet. “When I started working for her she said, ‘I want you to take care of the fats and I'll take care of the carbs at the gym’,” McGrady adds. “So dishes like tomato mousse which she really liked, she'd say, ‘Make me a fat-free version’.” In addition to letting the boys be boys, the royal chef says Diana tried to live as normal a life as was possible when she was at home alone, eating in front of the TV just like the rest of us! Prince Charles reunited with his nursery nanny

More than 17,000 kilometres and 60 years on from where it all began, Prince Charles was reunited with the woman who cared for him as a baby at Clarence House. Jacqui Botting, 92, lives in a care home opposite a Nelson research centre the Prince was visiting as part of his New Zealand tour, and had been sitting under a nearby tree in the hope of seeing him. New Zealand-born Botting looked after Prince Charles and his sister Princess Anne in the early 1950s, before she returned to marry. As she waited for an audience with His Royal Highness on Saturday, she clutched Christmas card she had received signed by Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and Charles himself, the Daily Mail reported. An aide alerted the Prince to Botting's presence and he was "absolutely delighted" to see her, taking time out of his schedule to catch up on old times. "He remembered me, didn't he?"
