Beloved Friends, Tootsie and Mr Mom star passes away

Teri Garr, the beloved actress known for her iconic roles in classic films such as Young Frankenstein and Tootsie and her appearances on Friends, has passed away at the age of 79.

Her death, confirmed by her publicist Heidi Schaeffer, occurred on Tuesday in Los Angeles, surrounded by family and friends. Garr's passing follows a long battle with multiple sclerosis, a condition she publicly disclosed in 2002 to raise awareness about the disease and its impact on daily life.

Born Terry Ann Garr in Lakewood, Ohio, in 1944, Teri grew up in a theatrical family; her father was a vaudeville performer and her mother a Rockette. This background set the stage for Garr's early career, which began as a background dancer in Elvis Presley films during the 1960s. Her breakout role came in 1974 when she starred as Inga, the charming lab assistant to Gene Wilder's character in Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein. The film became a cornerstone of American comedy, showcasing Garr's unique blend of humour and warmth.

Garr further solidified her place in cinematic history with her performance in Tootsie in 1982, where she portrayed the vulnerable actress friend of Dustin Hoffman’s character. This role earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Critics praised her ability to balance comedy with emotional depth, with film critic Pauline Kael calling her "the funniest neurotic dizzy dame on the screen" at that time.

Despite her success, Garr faced significant challenges due to her health. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis during the filming of Tootsie, a struggle she detailed in her memoir, Speedbumps: Flooring It Through Hollywood. In it, she described MS as a "sneaky disease," one that complicated her life and career but did not define it. “My body had a trick or two up its sleeve," she wrote. "A stumble here, a tingling finger there. I was trained as a dancer and knew better than to indulge the random aches and pains that visited now and then. Being a successful Hollywood actress may be challenging, but little did I know that the very body that had always been my calling card would betray me.”

Garr became an advocate for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, using her platform to inspire others facing similar challenges.

Throughout her career, Garr appeared in over 140 film and TV projects. She was known for her roles in Mr. Mom, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and various television shows including Friends, where she played Phoebe's birth mother. Her playful spirit and comedic timing made her a favourite among audiences and fellow actors alike.

In recent years, Garr had limited her appearances due to health issues but remained an influential figure in Hollywood. Tributes have poured in from fans and colleagues alike, celebrating her legacy as a pioneer for women in comedy and an inspiration for those battling chronic illnesses.

Teri Garr leaves behind a rich legacy filled with laughter and heart. She is survived by her daughter Molly O'Neil and grandson Tyryn. Her contributions to film and television will be remembered fondly by generations to come.

Images: CNN \ Fox Studios

Why Mr Bean is being blamed for decreasing electric vehicle sales

Rowan Atkinson has been blamed for a decrease in electric car sales, with a "damaging" article being debunked in the House of Lords.

The actor and comedian, who is also a well-known car enthusiast, wrote an article for The Guardian, claiming he felt "duped" by electric vehicles, saying they aren't as eco-friendly as they are often portrayed.

Atkinson says the problem with the vehicles' sustainable marketing focuses on just one part of the car’s operating life: what comes out of the exhaust pipes and ignores other elements such as the manufacturing and the mining of rare earth minerals, shipping and building of the batteries.

These claims, and the article itself, have been addressed by the UK's House of Lords, with politicians blaming the story for a decrease in electric vehicle sales.

UK think tank the Green Alliance says, “One of the most damaging articles was a comment piece written by Rowan Atkinson in The Guardian which has been roundly debunked.”

Other deterrents identified by the committee were the high purchase price and insufficient charging infrastructure.

Social media users were quick to take Atkinson's side in the debate, with one person writing on X, “If Rowan Atkinson is responsible, then give him a knighthood.”

Another user says, “Rowan Atkinson with a degree and masters in Engineering. Knows more than those pushing electric cars.”

"Apparently it's Mr Bean's fault for the poor take up of electric cars. Cancel him," another said.

For the last 12 months, high power costs in the UK have meant that fast charging your electric car can be more expensive than refuelling a petrol or diesel vehicle.

The UK is planning to ban sales of petrol and diesel vehicles from 2035, despite the slip in sales.

Post break-up Hugh Jackman reveals brand new look

In an inspiring turn of events, Hugh Jackman, the ruggedly handsome Wolverine of our dreams, has ditched his trademark beard, just a month after amicably splitting from his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness. We're not entirely sure if the divorce court stipulated a "no facial hair" clause, but the man's commitment to cleanliness is truly inspiring.

Jackman took to social media to reveal his fresh, beardless face to the world, leaving fans flabbergasted. The Aussie actor, who previously resembled a distinguished mountain man, now flaunts a look that screams "I might be going through a breakup, but my grooming game is still on point."

The transformation was nothing short of astonishing. Instead of the wild and untamed beard we've come to know and love, Jackman shared pictures of himself sporting neatly trimmed facial hair, captured during a visit to a New York barbershop. He even took two street selfies to commemorate this momentous occasion, radiating a vibe that said, "I am ready to tackle life with a jawline as sharp as my wit."

On his Instagram stories, Jackman posted a photo of himself grinning like a Cheshire cat in the barber's chair, with the caption, "Thank you Gabriel!!!" Clearly, he was thankful not just for the fine work of his barber but also for the chance to lighten his facial load.

Fans couldn't contain their excitement over the "fresh" new look. One fan enthusiastically wrote, "Post break-up Hugh is here! Bring it on." Another chimed in, "You look great Hugh, much cleaner and fresher." It seems the internet was united in their appreciation for the change, as one person couldn't help but comment, "OK, that beard was a bit too long. Now it is 👌. Good decision 😁."

Others couldn't resist a good-natured ribbing, with one cheeky commentator joking, "I bet that feels SO much better! We were going to start calling you Grizzly Adams soon 😂." Indeed, Jackman's transformation from a forest-dwelling hermit to a dapper gentleman is a sight to behold.

And, of course, there were those who declared Jackman "handsome as ever". It seems that even without his facial fur, the man can still make hearts flutter.

Jackman and Furness, who were married for 27 years, announced their separation in September. They revealed their intention to part ways for the sake of "individual growth". And it seems that Jackman's journey of personal development begins with a well-trimmed beard.

But what's next for this newly clean-shaven Jackman? Reports suggest that he's on a quest to find love again, with his inner circle placing bets on him "remarrying fairly quickly". Although some reports say he's still "mourning" his past relationship and isn't quite "back in the dating game" just yet, we have no doubt that his fresh face and renewed sense of self will lead to exciting prospects.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Hugh Jackman (@thehughjackman)

In a surprising twist, US Weekly has reported that the actor is "in the early stages" of writing his memoir, promising "big bombshells." Perhaps this newfound style transformation is just the tip of the iceberg in a series of revelations that will leave us all reeling. We can only imagine the epic tales of his time as Wolverine, his love story with Deborra-Lee Furness, and of course, the "No Beard, No Baggage" chapter.

October 12 marked Jackman's 55th birthday, with the actor reuniting briefly with Furness to celebrate at a New York restaurant. The couple enjoyed a "very happy" meal together with friends, and a source reported that it was a "good birthday". A representative for Jackman confirmed, "Yes, it's true. It was a lovely evening," proving that even in the wake of a separation, these two can still dine amicably.

Jackman and Furness are said to be speaking fairly regularly following their separation, and the bond between them remains strong. So, as we look forward to the next chapters in the life of Hugh Jackman, we can only hope they come with more shocking style changes, captivating memoirs, and a dash of his infectious charisma. After all, when it comes to Jackman, it's clear that even without his beard, he'll always be a cut above the rest.

Images: Instagram

Inside Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness' $290 million divorce

While Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness announced their split on Saturday after 27 years of marriage, official paperwork has not yet been filed to cement their divorce.

However, a new report suggests the couple are "amicably" trying to figure out how to divide their lucrative assets and abundant finances before they file the necessary paperwork.

The Aussie actor, 54, and his wife, 67, are rumoured to be worth around $290 million, with the couple owning multiple homes in both Australia and the US, which they’re reportedly planning to split equally.

“Their lives were so interwoven, so it’s an extremely tricky and gut-wrenching process dividing everything up and figuring out who gets what in terms of assets and finances,” a source told US Weekly.

“The [divorce] filing will be formalised in due course, but before that happens, their aim is to come to an agreement. They’re determined to [do this] as amicably as possible.”

In 2019, Men's Health magazine estimated that Jackman's net worth was sitting at around $257 million [adjusted for inflation], with a massive portion of his income stemming from his portrayal of Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films over several years.

On top of his on-screen achievements, Jackman has a hefty property portfolio, which includes a North Bondi penthouse the couple bought for $5.925m in 2015, which is estimated to have doubled in value since.

In August last year, the couple dropped $30m on a New York penthouse, which came after they listed their triplex in Manhattan’s West Village for $56m, having lived in the property for a decade.

They also own a sprawling getaway home in East Hamptons, which they purchased in 2015 for $5.440m.

The Hollywood couple shocked the world on Saturday when they released a statement confirming their separation after being married for 27 years.

“We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” Jackman and Furness told People.

“Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."

Body language expert analyses Hugh Jackman's last public outings with his wife

A body language expert has analysed the last public outings of Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness before they announced their split after 27 years of marriage.

The couple were spotted at both the Met Gala in New York and Wimbledon in the UK earlier this year, seemingly looking like a perfect loved-up couple.

However, Aussie body language expert Louise Mahler said there could be more than meets the eye at their public outings.

“These are two people so well rehearsed at being with each other. They lean in together, they move in unison,” Mahler told 7Life.

Assessing footage from their joint appearance at the Met Gala in May 2023, Mahler noticed that “at one point in the video Hugh goes to walk away and she briefly pulls him back and he stops with no hesitation”.

“There is no giveaway whatsoever... and remember, they are both actors."

“They are working as a team and showing total harmony.”

However, Mahler went on to assess a specific moment from the Met Gala where the couple were gazing at one another head-on.

“I’m going to speculate that he has left her because he’s looking at her quickly,” she said.

“He still loves her but he’s moving on."

“And what I see from her is, ‘I get that you’re moving on, you b******, but I will allow this’,” Mahler speculated about Furness’ body language.

Two months after their Met Gala appearance, the couple attended Wimbledon to sit side by side and watch the game.

Mahler acknowledged that they looked “a little cranky” but said that they were concentrated on the game and likely had cameras on them “for a long time”.

“I don’t see that they’re pulling away from each other in any way,” she said.

“In fact, their arms are touching the full length. This is a couple who have been together for 30 years, they know each other. I would say they still love each other, but they’re deciding to go their separate ways.”

New theory in Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness split

News of Hugh Jackman and Deborah-Lee Furness’ split after 27 years of marriage shocked the world, and now celebrity experts are sharing their theories.

US broadcaster Cooper Lawrence shared her theory in an interview with Sunrise hosts Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington on Monday morning.

Lawrence claimed that the couple were waiting for their two adopted children Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18, to grow old enough before they had an amicable split.

“I think [Jackman and Furness] were waiting until the kids were old enough that they could have an amicable split and not worry about child custody or how much everybody is going to pay each other,” she told the Sunrise hosts.

She added that child custody battles are what make high-profile divorces “messy”, which could explain the timing of the divorce.

“They don’t have to worry about that because the kids are older, so now they can just split their multi-millions and all their properties, which is a lot.”

The couple have properties in New York, Sydney and The Hamptons.

Lawrence added that the rumour mill began spinning on “the Broadway scene” sometime last year after the couple sold their three-storey New York apartment.

“For a while on the Broadway scene there was a rumour there might be something going on in that marriage and people were like, ‘This is kind of odd,’ but as soon as they sold their three-floor apartment... and downsized and then shipped a bunch of furniture home to Sydney, it was like ‘What’s really going on here?’” she said.

She added that while celebrity splits are nothing new, some fans have taken it harder than others because some celebrities make them believe in true love.

“Every time there was a think piece about Hollywood couples that made us believe in love, (Jackman and Furness) were always at the top of the list,” Lawrence explained.

“They are always talking about each other and they were the ‘it couple’ for anybody that’s a little older than their younger spouse.

“They were role models for everything in relationships.”

Fans aren't the only ones devastated by the divorce. The Wolverine actor broke his silence the day after their separation statement went public, and shared that it was "a difficult time.'

Image: Getty/Kevin Mazur/WireImage

Hugh Jackman "devastated" after marriage split

Hugh Jackman has publicly addressed his recent separation for the first time since the news surfaced on Friday September 15. Photographed while running errands in the streets of New York, Jackman's ring finger conspicuously lacked a wedding ring. When approached by a photographer about the breakup, he declined to delve into details, simply stating, "It doesn't feel quite right talking about it on the street."

The 54-year-old actor did, however, acknowledge the challenging situation with a brief remark, saying, "It's a difficult time," before courteously smiling at the photographer and resuming his errands.

His appearance comes in the wake of reports indicating that he was profoundly affected by his split from his wife of 27 years, Deborra-lee Furness. However, some sources suggest that the separation had been a long time coming.

The New York Post's Page Six section cited a source close to Jackman who said that he is “devastated” by the split and that he is “very sad".

An insider from Broadway, where Jackman returned for "The Music Man" in February 2022, revealed that the breakup wasn't a recent development, sharing, "It happened a while ago. Friends and family knew about it."

They added that there was no involvement of a third party and that the couple had gradually evolved into more like "roommates"

The announcement of their separation came as a shock to their worldwide fanbase. The couple shared their decision to part ways through a statement released via People magazine, expressing their gratitude for nearly three decades of marriage and explaining their choice to separate in pursuit of individual growth. The statement concluded by requesting privacy during this transitional phase in their lives.

“We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” the statement read. “Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”

Jackman and Furness then added that “our family has been and always will be our highest priority” as “we undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness”.

“We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives,” the statement continued before they signed off as “Deb and Hugh Jackman”.

“This is the sole statement either of us will make,” the pair concluded.

Jackman and Furness first crossed paths while working together on the Australian miniseries Correlli in 1995. Jackman, who had previously described their connection as love at first sight, knew he wanted to marry Furness just weeks after meeting her. They tied the knot on April 11, 1996.

Their journey together included overcoming miscarriages and embarking on an IVF journey before deciding to adopt. In 2000, they welcomed their son, Oscar, into their family, followed by the adoption of their daughter, Ava, five years later.

Jackman had often openly expressed his deep affection for Furness throughout their marriage. Shortly before the news of their separation emerged, he shared a heartfelt message on Instagram celebrating their 27th wedding anniversary, professing his enduring love and admiration for his wife.

In a recent development, Furness was spotted without her wedding ring just days before the news of their separation became public.

Images: Instagram

The BBC has issued a statement after a cringeworthy interview with a sports presenter went viral.

Chris Hughes, a former Love Island contestant, was chatting to Aussie cricketer Maitlan Brown during Southern Brave's match in The Hundred.

As the interview began, Hughes referred to Brown as a "batsman", with the rest of the interview only going downhill from there.

Hughes then asked how Brown had been settling in and bonding with her teammates.

"We watched Barbie the other night all together and it was really good team bonding and the group is gelling really well together," Brown replied.

Hughes then quipped back, "You're a little Barbie yourself, aren't you, with your blue eyes."

As Brown laughed awkwardly, Hughes added, "She's blushing now."

The absolute state of this @BBCSport

"Batsman"

"You're a bit of a Barbie yourself"

So much great young journalistic cricket talent in the UK, and you hire that clown @chrishughes_22, because demographics, innit pic.twitter.com/f7FwAtQjR9

— Always Look On The Bright Cider Life 🍎🏏🍎🏏🍎 (@somersetpodcast) August 1, 2023

Since the interview, Hughes has copped criticism on social media with the BCC stating they have addressed the issue with him.

"We have spoken to Chris and explained that his comment was not appropriate," a BBC spokesperson said.

Hughes has been the subject of an online slating since the interview, with many criticising his comments and wondering how he even landed the gig in the first place.

One person wrote on Twitter, "This is what happens when you get a Love Islander to present cricket... Why Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa is the best thing we've ever seen

Hold onto your chocolate bars, folks, because director Paul King has done it again! After his stroke of genius in casting Hugh Grant as the dastardly villain in Paddington 2, King couldn't resist the temptation to work with Grant once more. This time, he enlisted the British star for a truly magical role in the upcoming Roald Dahl prequel, Wonka (set to release on December 15 by Warner Bros.). But brace yourselves, because Grant's appearance as an Oompa Loompa is bound to leave you in stitches.

During the official premiere of the Wonka trailer in London, which was attended by lucky guests treated to a buffet overflowing with Wonka-inspired sugary delights, King took a moment to explain his decision to cast Grant as a pint-sized, green-haired Oompa Loompa. The hilarious deadpan performance in the final moments of the trailer speaks for itself!

In delving into the backstory of Willy Wonka, played by the brilliant Timothée Chalamet, King found himself diving headfirst into Dahl's books for inspiration. When it came to the Oompa Loompas, King discovered that although Dahl didn't grant them much dialogue, their songs were packed with incredible sarcasm, judgment, and cruelty directed at the kids in the story.

“So I was really just thinking about that character; somebody who could be a real shit, and then — ah! Hugh!” he told the London premiere crowd. “Because he’s the funniest, most sarcastic shit I’ve ever met.”

As for his leading star, Chalamet, King's praise was somewhat more refined, or so he claims: “It was a very short list of people who could play Willy Wonka, and really, it was him. I really do think he’s the most incredible actor of his generation, because he’s got this incredible ability to dive very deep into his own personal emotions and convey things with the turn of an eye — he’s very, very controlled, very smart and incredibly emotionally intuitive.”

While acknowledging the daunting task of following in the footsteps of acting legends like Johnny Depp and the original Wonka himself, Gene Wilder, King was confident that Chalamet would rise to the occasion. "I think he manages to bring that sort of mayhem and mischievousness but with a deep emotional grounding," he said, "which is really quite extraordinary.”

So, get ready to embark on a sugar-coated adventure with Hugh Grant's hilariously sarcastic Oompa Loompa and Timothée Chalamet's awe-inspiring portrayal of Willy Wonka. It's going to be one wild, chocolate-filled ride that will leave your sides splitting and your sweet tooth satisfied.

Images: Warner Bros

Hugh Jackman shares touching Mother's Day tribute

Hugh Jackman has shared a heart-warming tribute to his mum Grace in honour of Mother's Day.

After mending his once-distant relationship with his mother, the actor posted a photo of the pair on Instagram with the caption, "Happy Mother's Day to my dear Mum… and to all of you who are celebrating today".

Hugh is no stranger to sharing snaps of him with his mother online, following the pair's reconciliation after several years of estrangement.

The actor has spoken openly in the past about the difficult relationship, telling Woman's Weekly in 2012 that Hugh was just eight years old when his British mother returned to England.

She left him and his four siblings behind with their father, Christopher Jackman, in Sydney, and Hugh admitted it took him years to come to terms with it.

"At the time, it was difficult. One of the main things I remember is that horrible feeling that people were talking about you and looking at you because it was odd for the mother to leave," he confessed.

"For many years, I thought it was not going to be forever, so I clung on to that. Up until about the age of 12 or 13, I thought Mum and Dad would get back together. Finally realising it wasn't going to happen was probably the toughest time to be honest."

Despite leaving so abruptly, Hugh said he "never felt that my mum didn't love me" and added that he'd "spoken about it at length with her since".

"I know she was struggling. She was in hospital after I was born suffering from post-natal depression," he continued.

"And then you add five kids into the mix and the fact she had emigrated from England and there wasn't a support network for her here, plus the fact that Dad was at work all day - and you realise that as parents we make mistakes."

Hugh Jackman reveals skin cancer results

Hugh Jackman has shared an update on his skin cancer scare just two days after revealing he had undergone two biopsies to determine whether or not he had basal cell carcinomas.

At the time, Hugh explained “basal cell” to be “the least dangerous of them all” when it came to skin cancers, and that he would get his results in a matter of days. It’s also the most commonly occurring, and typically approached with surgery if the biopsy doesn’t remove the cancer first.

And now, Hugh has shared his good news, informing his 31.1 million followers on Instagram that his “biopsies came back NEGATIVE!!!”

“Thank you ALL for the love,” he continued in his story post, “I feel it! And to the media for helping get this very important message out.”

He concluded his statement by reminding everyone to “wear sunscreen with a high level of SPF (no matter the season)”.

It was an important message that echoed what he’d told his supporters just two days before, when he explained that “I know you’ve heard me talk about my basal cell carcinomas before. I’m going to keep talking about them, if need be.

“And if it reminds even one person to put on sunscreen with a high SPF, then I’m happy.”

He went on to add that no matter how much someone might want to tan, it wasn’t worth it, and that his scares were the result of “stuff that happened 25 years ago”.

In 2015, Hugh explained to ABC News that his childhood was spent outdoors, and that his “dad or mum ever bought it [sunscreen] or made us put it on”.

And in another clip posted to Instagram during one of his previous cancer scares - of which Hugh has had numerous - he urged followers again to take care of their skin health, and prioritise their approach to being in the sun.

“If you’re like me and you didn’t really know any better when you were young, and you didn’t wear sunscreen, and you were in the Australian sun, then you need to get a check-up even more.

“I just had mine done, I just had a little biopsy. It’s precancerous, it’s not much, but I’m really glad I went.”

In total, the Wolverine and upcoming Deadpool 3 star has had six skin cancer removals from his face - all of which took place in 2017 - and another biopsy in 2021. The latter returned an inconclusive result for the actor, when the worst he could have faced was also basal cell carcinomas.

Images: Instagram

"I did a Christian Bale": Hugh Grant loses it on set

Hugh Grant admitted to misdirecting his anger and going off at a “nice local woman” while filming Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

“I lost my temper with a woman in my eye line on day one,” Grant, 62, told Total Film magazine via Yahoo!

“I assumed she was some executive from the studio who should have known better,” he said.

“Then it turns out that she’s an extremely nice local woman who was the chaperone of the young girl.”

The British actor called his temper tantrum “terrible” and explained that his episode ended with “a lot of grovelling,” according to Page Six.

“I did a Christian Bale,” Grant teased, in reference to when Bale was caught on tape aggressively yelling at a Terminator: Salvation crew member in 2009. Later, the actor, 49, apologised profusely and called his actions “inexcusable”.

This is not Hugh Grant’s first temper tantrum, as he’s previously admitted to occasionally having a short fuse.

Former Daily Show host Jon Stewart called Grant one of the worst guests he ever had on his show, referring to the actor as “a big pain in the a**”.

Grant held himself accountable, telling Andy Cohen in 2015, “He wasn’t entirely wrong.”

“I did have a tantrum backstage. About once a year, I have a really mega-tantrum, and sadly he witnessed one. So he’s absolutely right.” He added.

Hugh Grant stars in Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves alongside Chris Pine, Justice Smith, Michelle Rodriguez, Sophia Lillis and Regé-Jean Page.

He spoke about why he was so drawn to the project, telling Collider that he liked the script was “about losers”.

“This little band of comrades, they’re all a bit crap. [Pine’s character is] not great at being a bard. And the magician, played by Justice, is really bad. What do they call magicians in Dungeons & Dragons? Sorcerer. He’s not much good,” he told the outlet.

“And Michelle’s character has been thrown out of whatever. What is she? Barbarian. And is still in love with her husband, who is in love with someone else. And I responded to that loser-ish thing about this little band.” he said.

I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months,” Jackman said.

“And I’m really fit right now. There’s one thing that about eight shows a week being on Broadway singing and dancing, is I’m fit. So, I’m healthy. We need to stay true to the character. Find new depth and motivation and meaning. Every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart,” Reynolds began.

“It’s been an incredible challenge that’s forced me to reach down and reach inside and I have nothing. Yeah, just completely empty up here, and terrifying. But we did have one idea.”

At that point in the video, Reynolds paused while Jackman can be seen casually walking in the background.

Reynolds asked, “Hey, Hugh, do you want to play Wolverine one more time?”

Deadpool 3 is due for release in November 2024.

Hugh Jackman reveals why he is now in therapy

Hugh Jackman has revealed he is undergoing therapy to help him come to terms with the trauma he experienced as a child.

The Aussie actor opened up about his healing process in a new interview with Who magazine, telling the publication he recently began treatment.

"I just started it recently. It's helped me a lot," he said. "We all need a village."

"You need a friend you can unload everything – having someone really smart, who's a little a bit removed from your world can be really helpful."

In his sessions, Jackman discussed his longstanding pain from being abandoned by his mother, Grace, and sisters Zoe and Sonya, who left Australia for the UK when he was just eight.

Jackman remained in Sydney with his father, Christopher, and brothers Ian and Ralph. It wasn't until he was about 12 years old that he realised she was not coming home.

However, therapy has allowed Jackman to accept the past and make peace with loved ones.

"Understanding my past and how it's informing my thinking unconsciously – getting to really understand some of the patterns that I was unconsciously just repeating," he said.

However, Jackman has been fortunate enough to reconnect with his mother over the years, previously telling The Sun: "As I grew older I gained an understanding of why Mum did leave … and we have definitely made our peace, which is important. I was always quite connected with my mum. I have a good relationship with her."

Sadly, Jackman's father passed away in September last year, on Father's Day in Australia.

Images: Instagram
