"I don't understand": Heartbroken bride mourns husband's passing mere hours after wedding

A bride has been left heartbroken as she mourns the death of her new husband just hours after they tied the knot.

Oklahoma singer-songwriter Jake Flint and his fiancée Brenda Wilson said their vows in a beautiful ceremony on November 26.

The pair then went home and Flint just never woke up again after dying in his sleep. However the cause of death has still not been confirmed.

“We should be going through wedding photos but instead I have to pick out clothes to bury my husband in. People aren't meant to feel this much pain,” a devastated Brenda wrote.

“My heart is gone and I just really need him to come back. I can't take much more. I need him here.”

Flint’s longtime publicist Clif Doyal confirmed the horrific news and said that he was “loved by everybody”.

“He was not only a client, he was a dear friend and just a super nice guy,” he wrote.

“As you can see from the outpouring on social media, he was loved by everybody. I think a lot of it was just that he was a people person, and he had an amazing sense of humor.

“He made everybody laugh, and he made everybody feel welcome.”

Flint's manager, Brenda Cline, also confirmed his death in a sad social media post.

“With a broken heart and in deep grief I must announce that Jake Flint has tragically passed away,” she wrote.

“I've tried several times today to make a post, but you can't comment on what you can't process.”

Images: Facebook

"Heartbroken": High-profile women react to landmark Roe v Wade decision

When the US Supreme Court made the landmark decision to overturn Roe v. Wade on Friday June 24, women across America and all around the world took to social media to express their anger, disgust, sadness and outrage.

A range of celebrities and high-profile women spoke out over the decision, as they grieved the loss of fundamental women's right and bodily autonomy in the eyes of the law.

Roe v. Wade was implemented to grant women in the US the constitutional right to terminate a pregnancy, regardless of their reasoning.

The landmark abortion ruling, which has been in place since 1973, was officially overturned last week, meaning individual states in America now have the right to ban women from seeking legal abortions – which several states have now already done.

Australian model Robyn Lawley made a statement on her Instagram as she wrote on her torso, "My body my choice".

The model shared her disgust for the ruling, while also empathising with women living the US of the challenges they are about to face.
<blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; He is now desperate for the return of his mother’s ashes, which had been placed inside a piece of jewellery following her death from cancer in 2015.

It’s unlikely the alleged thief knew the precious item was inside the glove box of the ute when it was taken.

“The car is replaceable, everything in that car is replaceable, but the ashes aren’t,” he told 7NEWS on Tuesday.

“I need them back, I don’t want them, I need them.”

Mr Holmes told Sunrise that he was now offering “a reward to anyone that comes forward with information leading to the name or the arrest, even just the ashes”.

“That’s just the last thing I have of mum and it takes a lot to make me upset, and we’ve gone through a lot of humps in this road, but this one has knocked me about a bit.”

Mr Holmes said he kept the ashes in his car as he liked to have his mother near him at all times.

“I just thought that having her in the car with me, she can come everywhere I go kind of thing, just to have that kind of reassurance.”

Queensland Police are investigating the incident and urge anyone with information to contact them.

Image: 7 News

Love, Will.”

The heartwrenching message was posted to the postal service’s website, which then made its way on to Twitter.

“This letter to Santa broke my heart,” wrote Twitter user Nancy.

Her tweet ended up going viral and garnered 200,000 likes and over 22,000 retweets.

“This hurts my heart so much. I hope Will and all the other little LGBTQ+ babies know (and get told) they’re so, so loved,” one person wrote.

“Being a queer kid is so difficult. I hope this little boy knows that God does love him no matter what,” another said.

Others said they were “crying” and a “blubbering mess” after reading the note.

Some of the other emotional letters including a child asking for help to pay his parent's bills.

“We also need internet so I can study,” the child said.

One girl called Kayla asked Santa to bring her a sofa bed, saying her parents spell on a sofa in their one-bedroom unit.

She added that her dad “works a lot” and she doesn’t want him to wake with “back pain”.

Another child, Almir, spoke about his mum who recently passed away from cervical cancer, and said how hard it has been on his entire family.

He asked Santa to help his loved ones at Christmas, and also asked for some gloves and a coat to keep him warm.

“These break my heart,” one person declared.

“This is the most heart breaking thing,” another agreed.

Operation Santa began in the US in 1912 when Postmaster General Frank Hitchcock authorised local Postmasters to allow postal employees and citizens to respond to the letters – a program that eventually became known as Operation Santa.

Heartbroken mum shares warning after son dies of carbon monoxide poisoning

A family day out boating has turned into tragedy for the Free family after her 9-year-old son died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Despite each adult on board having 20+ years of boating experience, the death has come to a shock as the family.

Andy spent the day at the rear of the boat and fell unconscious into the lake.

His mother, Cassandra Free, had no idea that could happen.

“One of the things we hadn’t considered was the long no-wake zone,” Free explained, referring to the area of the lake where boats must maintain slower speeds.

“We had no idea it was so dangerous. Prior to that we had been out doing our normal stuff, tubing, wakesurfing.” Wakesurfing is a water sport where a rider trails behind the boat, riding the boat’s wake.

"I didn’t know this. No one I know knew this. It’s called open-air carbon monoxide poisoning. Another friend looked into and found that it can also happen on other recreational vehicles like 4-wheelers. Our little Andy, our Dude, was probably slowly dying that afternoon/evening and we didn’t know it. He would’ve been tired. His head would’ve started to hurt. Sounds like too much sun after a long, physically draining day of wakeboarding, wake surfing, and tubing," she shared in a heartbreaking post on Facebook.

Gasoline powered boats can emit carbon monoxide, and as many boats' generators vent toward the back of the boat, this is how Andy passed away.

“Looking back, hindsight is 20/20,” said Free tearfully.

“It was not unusual for our kids to be tired and cranky. You’re out in the sun all day,” she said, as the parents initially thought he was tired from the sun.

She and her husband Brett are parents to sons Johnathan, 15, and Blake, 13.

“We were packing and cleaning up and the kids are groaning that they don’t feel good, just want to take a nap,” she recalled.

“My husband got Blake, my middle son, up.

“When he tried to get Andy, the boat just rocked and Andy rolled off. My husband, he was like, ‘What the heck?’”

Brett and two other men were able to find Andy, but he was unresponsive.

“They were able to recover him but he never breathed another breath,” said Free.

“They did CPR forever, it seemed before emergency services came. The doctors said there is zero brain activity. Even if they got a single breath, there would have been no quality of life.”

She shared a Facebook post outlining her story to raise awareness about death due to carbon monoxide poisoning on boats.

“It’s not common knowledge and we are going to have to be more proactive in sharing these stories,” she said.

“Somebody is going to have to take a closer look at boat emissions. We post road signs to let people know there might be falling rocks or a sharp curve. But there are no signs to tell people to turn off their boats or warn people of the danger of carbon monoxide.”

“Andy was supposed to grow up and save the world,” she said. “He still can. He can never grow up, but he can still save the world. His name will be forever tied to the lives he saved. That has become my mission. To make sure that no mom stands in my shoes.”

Heartbroken son speaks out after Ruby Princess cruise ship death: “We’re just extremely mad”

The Ruby Princess cruise ship quickly became a coronavirus hotspot with deadly consequences after eleven passengers passed away.

Tasmanian man, 81-year-old Leonard Fisher was one of the victims who lost his life to the virus after boarding the cruise ship and his heartbroken son, Greg has spoken up about the horrific ordeal.

Speaking to 60 minutes, Greg said he wished he’d done more to convince his father out of leaving for his trip but his dad convinced him that if there had been anything wrong on the ship, Princess Cruises would have cancelled the cruise.

"He said at my age, I'll probably never get a chance to do another trip like this again," Greg told Bartlett.

However, as time went on Greg noticed his dad become increasingly more concerned throughout his trip.

"He said that he had a gentleman sitting beside him that was coughing and coughing, and coughing, he had his hand over his mouth, and he was quite concerned about that," Greg told 60 Minutes.

"He did say that if he was aware that how bad this virus was, and if it was on the ship, he would never have got on the ship."

Greg told Channel 9 both he and his dad had trusted the cruise line company as "At no stage were the passengers told that there was a possibility of coronavirus on that boat. They were unaware of any sickness that was on that boat, it was just so wrong,"

Np passengers were told that in fact, 104 people on board were sick with respiratory infections and 15 had to be swabbed by the doctor onboard due to his fear of suspected COVID-19.

Cruise passengers Gary and Kelly Callaghan expressed their frustrations that they were not warned that the disease had made its way on to the ship.

"We are extremely mad, sad and cranky that we weren't told that somebody potentially had it on the ship. We're just extremely mad that we weren't told anything," she said.

Neither Kelly or Gary were tested upon departure but instead were ushered quickly off the ship and were allowed to return into their communities and back to their homes.

It is possible thousands were infected.

"We were all expecting to be tested when we got off just to be sure, to be safe, you're letting us out in the public around people and nobody tested us and I really think that was disgraceful," Gary said.

NSW Health deemed that the ship was a “low risk setting”, despite being told there were 15 passengers who had been swabbed for coronavirus.

2700 passengers were disembarked without being tested.

There are 600 cases of coronavirus linking back to the ruby cruise ship and 11 deaths.

The Ruby Princess is now the largest single source of COVID-19 deaths in Australia.

Heartbroken widower scammed out of $377,000

A widower from Australia has been left heartbroken after falling for an expensive and elaborate dating service scam.

The man was promised a bride-to-be from a group saying they were a dating agency, but instead, he ended up penniless.

The 69-year-old, who has requested to remain anonymous, was tricked into handing over large sums of money over the course of a year.

The amount money he ended up handing over was approximately $377,000.

The retiree was coerced in to handing over the funds for fees, such as membership fees, marriage costs, an engagement ring, as well as paying for his future wife’s legal fees.

The lonely man was trying to build a life after his wife of 35 years passed away and decided to try the matchmaking service.

"It was stupid but I was very vulnerable. I was lonely at the time and was feeling very low. I thought there was a connection," he told Sunshine Coast Daily.

The man met women who were posing as office consultants and managers to collect the payments from him. They met at a range of locations, including Melbourne Airport.

'I think they are animals. They have left me destitute. It was my life savings and now I try to get by on a pension," he explained.

There are a range of ways to see whether or not the person you’re talking to is trustworthy, which include:

Take your time, especially when talking about yourself. You don’t need to tell them your whole life story as soon as you meet them.

Check if there are records of the person you’re interested in online. Use a search engine to check their profile images.

Keep your bank and account information private.

Do not transfer money to a ‘safe account’ and ignore anyone who asks you to do this.

Report suspicious behaviour immediately, trust your instincts and stop talking to anyone who makes you feel uncomfortable.

Has this happened to anyone you know? Heartbroken bride honours dead fiancé in beautiful photoshoot

Debbie Gerlach may have lost her fiancé to a tragic accident nine months before they were set to wed, but that didn’t stop her from dressing up as a bride and taking photos with the man she was supposed to spend the rest of her life with.

Debbie was getting ready to marry the love of her life, Randy Zimmerman, on November 11, 2018, but before that, Randy had his life taken away from him after a motorbike accident in February.

However, Debbie couldn’t let go that easily, as she wanted him by her side in what was supposed to be the happiest day of their lives.

A few months prior, Debbie took part in a solo photoshoot where she donned her wedding dress and posed in the Tucson, Arizona, desert.

Then on November 11, the day that would have been their wedding, she shared the photos online, but the photos show more than one person, because standing by Debbie’s side is Randy.

The post garnered a huge response with over 308K reactions and 29K comments.

The photographer behind the emotional photoshoot is Kristie Fonseca who regularly photoshops deceased loved ones in photographs that she’s taken.

“I actually enjoy taking on challenges like this because, if portrayed with love and passion, the end result will be forever cherished,” she says.

Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, Kristie recalls the moment Debbie approached her with her idea: “When I first spoke with Debbie, she told me her tragic story and asked if I was able to insert her fiancé into what should have been their special day. A special day that was carelessly stolen from her.

“After listening to her heartbreaking story, I just knew I had to do something very special for her.”

Kristie knew immediately that these photographs had to be perfect.

“It was supposed to be her day. It was supposed to be the day they expressed their love for each other. My thoughts were going a mile a minute coming up with ideas, poses and images that would mimic her special day with him.”

The setting was an isolated desert, and the focal point was Debbie, who stood there in a white gown. Each image pays tribute to Randy, with him standing by Debbie’s side.

Whether he sat on a motorcycle behind her, or where he’s kissing her cheek, the photographs make sure that his presence will never be forgotten.

“I started the session as I normally would for a bridal shoot, and then I posed her for some as if he was there,” Fonseca explained.

“She naturally posed for the photos as if he was standing right beside her.

“Her smile had a warmth as if he was talking to her. Even though he wasn’t there, she moved as if he was.”

The end result was loved by Debbie, but she planned to keep it from the world until what was supposed to be their wedding day.

Alongside the photos, Debbie hoped to spread awareness on road safety, as she captioned it: “Please I beg each and every one of you that reads this post, WATCH FOR MOTORCYCLES, stop at stop signs and drive with care because you never know whose whole world is on that bike.

“Maybe if that person stopped, I’d be marrying Randy, my best friend, the love of my life.”

What do you think of these touching photos of Debbie and her beloved Randy? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.

Kate Spade’s “heartbroken” father dies on eve of designer’s funeral

Kate Spade's "heartbroken" father has died just a day before the fashion designer's funeral on Thursday.

Earl F. Brosnahan Jr., 89, passed away in Kansas City, Missouri on June 20, his family has confirmed.

Brosnahan's loved ones say they believe he died, in part, of a broken heart after his daughter was found dead in her New York apartment on June 5.

A chief medical examiner later confirmed Spade, 55, took her own life.

"We are deeply saddened to announce that Katy’s father, Earl F. Brosnahan, Jr. [Frank], passed away last night at age 89," the statement read.

"He had been in failing health of late and was heartbroken over the recent death of his beloved daughter. He was at home and surrounded by family at the time of his passing.

"He was especially proud of his wife, children and grandchildren."

Brosnahan is survived by his second wife Sandy, who was at his bedside when he died.

Following Spade’s death, Brosnahan told the Kansas City Star that he had spoken to his daughter the night before she died and they had discussed her upcoming trip to the US West Coast.

"She was happy and we made plans to meet in California," Brosnahan said.

Speaking of how the family was coping in the tragedy, Brosnahan said the "close" group would "certainly miss our bright, sunshiney little person."

He believes his daughter would have been gratified knowing the discussions about mental health taking place around her death.

"Katy would have liked that. She was always giving and charitable. If that helped anybody avoid anything — fine, she'd be delighted," he said.

The fashion icon's funeral went ahead as planned in Kansas City, with husband Andy Spade giving a eulogy and several other family members speaking.

The couple were married for 24 years but had been living separately for several months before her death. The pair have one child, a daughter named Beatrice.

Sir David Attenborough has spent his lifetime documenting nature and wildlife, as well as the impact we humans have on it.

The 91-year-old conservationist and broadcaster has seen everything, but there was one recent scene that brought him to tears.

Attenborough was left heartbroken during filming for his latest documentary series Blue Planet II after seeing a young albatross lying dead beside its mother after choking on a plastic toothpick.

The presenter said the birds eat seafood as part of its natural diet and was shocked to see the mother feed its young with something he didn’t expect to see.

“What comes out of the mouth of the adult?” he questioned. “Not sand eels and not fish and not squid which is what they mostly eat, but plastic.

“It’s heartbreaking ... heartbreaking.”

Writing in a Radio Times column, Attenborough highlighted the eight million tonnes of plastic that are dumped into the sea every year and called for action to save the future of animals.

“Surely we have a responsibility to care for the planet on which we live? The future of humanity, and indeed of all life on Earth, now depends on us doing so,” he said.

“Plastic is now found everywhere in the ocean, from its surface to its greatest depths.”

Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery heartbroken like Lady Mary: "I consider myself a widow"

Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery has opened up about the tragic death of her fiancé two years ago, saying she considers herself a widow.

“I’ve never been more committed to anything in my life than to him,” she said in an interview on the weekend with the Guardian.

“I don’t have the vocabulary to describe what it felt like and what it still feels like. I refer to myself as a widow, yes. We were engaged, and married at heart, and so I do consider myself a widow.”

Dockery, 35, and John Dineen, an Irish public relations director, were engaged for a year before he died at the age of 34.

But to add to the grief, Dockery’s character in Downton Abbey, Lady Mary Crawley, also lost her husband.

“One of the difficult things at the time was the parallels with Mary,” said the actress.

“It was just baffling, and still is to me, that my character’s storyline was so similar.”

Although Dockery said she felt “very excited” about leaving the show and moving on to other things, she may be portraying Lady Mary once more.

Julian Fellowes' big screen adaptation of his popular TV series has been given the green light.

During an exhibition for the show in Singapore this summer, Michael Edelstein, president at NBC Universal International Studios, said: “There's a movie in the works. It's been in the works for some time.

“We are working on getting the script right, and then we've got to figure out how to get the (cast) together.”
