Transformers trailer sparks fury online

Transformers released a string of teasers and behind-the-scenes footage ahead of the June premiere of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts - but quickly stripped a scene that appeared reminiscent of the September 11 attacks.

The seventh Transformers movie in the franchise is set to hit Aussie cinemas on June 22, and Transformers shared an extended trailer that showed the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre surrounded by black smoke, according to the New York Post.

The scene’s evocation of 9/11 shocked viewers and many didn’t believe the image could be affiliated with a Transformers movie.

“This image certainly made me stop scrolling,” wrote Twitter user Daniel Kibblesmith, alongside the jarring screenshot from the trailer.

Kibblesmith’s tweet attracted more than 2.5 million views in less than 24 hours after being posted.

Transformers’ caption read, “It’s about to be epic. Go behind the scenes with our cast and crew, and meet the new characters of Transformers.”

As of May 23, the post no longer appears to be on the franchise’s Twitter page.

The nearly two-minute teaser features Anthony Ramos, who stars in Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts as Noah Diaz, an ex-military electronics specialist living in Brooklyn, New York.

“This is about to be epic. This is about to be epically crazy,” Ramos said in the behind-the-scenes clip.

The footage shows a peaceful NYC skyline with the Twin Towers before abruptly cutting to a shot of the Statue of Liberty in the foreground and the World Trade Centre covered in thick smoke in the background.

Steven Caple Jr, the movie’s director clarifies in the clip that the upcoming movie is “in chronological order, is the second Transformers movie – it takes place during the ’90s”.

“I didn’t think that it was possible, but here I am, even less interested than ever in seeing a Transformers movie. They’ve done it again, the mad genii,” one Twitter wrote.

“This could have been easily avoided if they’d picked literally any other city besides New York,” another tweeted.

“That is … an unfortunate shot,” yet another said of the upsetting image, while another said it was “too soon”.

Avatar sequel trailer released 13 years after first movie

A teaser trailer for the sequel to Avatar has been released almost 13 years after the first movie broke box office records.

In just one day since the Avatar: The Way of Water trailer came out, it has reached more than four million views (correct at time of publishing).

Fans are given a glimpse of what to expect in the exciting sequel which is set to drop in cinemas later in December around the world.

The sequel, which is also set more than a decade after the first movie, will follow the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids) and the trouble that keeps following them and how they fight to keep each other alive.

Director and producer James Cameron had previously announced that he has plans for a total of six movies for the Avatar series and that he had already begun filming for the fourth film.

"Anything that had to be done with a specific actor, we did all the scenes for 2 and 3 together – and a little bit of 4," he told Variety.

"I had to shoot the kids out. They're allowed to age six years in the middle of the story on page 25 of movie 4. Hollywood A-lister made Hugh Jackman clean up vomit in his trailer

The Hollywood star wasn’t happy when Hugh Jackman’s best mate since kindergarten – Gus Worland - vomited in his trailer and he made the Aussie actor clean it up.

Worland recapped the whole story on KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show today and then he challenged listeners to call in and guess who the Hollywood star was.

The incident happened in the earlier days of Jackman’s career when Worland was visiting Jackman on a movie set. One of Jackman’s co-stars invited them both to have a drink in his “much bigger trailer”.

Worland said he walked into the trailer “… and it’s got a Cuban cigar in each corner with a cigar cutter … and there’s a tub of drinks and stuff.”

“We sit down and start having a conversation and I’m struggling to get the words out because I’m so excited that I’m in his company,” Worland said about Jackman’s co-star.

Worland’s nerves got the better of him and he said he was “drinking a little bit too quickly” and he found himself not feeling well, he said on the radio show.

“Jacko’s looking at me going: ‘Are you OK, mate?’ I said, ‘I’m fine, I’m fine.”

But he wasn’t. He added: “I’m smoking this cigar, I’m drinking these drinks and I’m hammered within an hour. I just go, ‘Oh no, I can’t hold this.’ I tried to shimmy out of the horseshoe [table] set up … which is a difficult thing to do … and I don’t quite get to the door of the trailer and I throw up everywhere.”

Worland said that Jackman found it fairly funny but the other celebrity didn’t have the same sense of humour about the situation and he told Jackman he’d have to clean the whole thing up.

“That takes Jacko about 20 minutes,” Worland recalled.

Kyle Sandilands asked Worland: “He got Hugh Jackman to mop up your chunder?”

“Yeah,” Worland said.

So, who was the Hollywood A-lister who wasn’t impressed?

Eventually a listener called through with the right answer – it was John Travolta and it was when Travolta and Jackman were filming Swordfish.

Worland was on the Kyle and Jackie O Show to promote a new initiative for his Gotcha4Life Foundation called the ‘Mind Your Mate’ campaign.

“I want everyone to write down a list of all the people in their life that they love and actually go to our website gotcha4life.org and pledge your mateship to them,” Worland said. “And I can send you some tips and tricks to make sure your relationship is stronger than ever before.”

Gotcha4Life is an Australian mental fitness charity which Worland set up which takes action to engage, educate and empower people to improve their mental health and end suicide.

Image: Getty Images

6 movie trailers that deceived viewers

A successful movie trailer not only makes you feel the anticipation to see a new flick, but it also gives you key glimpses into the story and characters so that you immediately are sold to watch it.

However, some trailers have deceived audiences by selling an image of a story that does not remain true to the movie.

Here are six movie trailers that managed to deceive audiences. Warning: Spoilers for the following movies.

1. Kangaroo Jack

The trailer for Kangaroo Jack pitched the film as a family friendly comedy with the likes of a talking kangaroo and screaming characters. Many kids watched the flick at the cinemas only to sit through a mafia comedy about adult friendships and failed dreams. The coy marketing ploy led the film to the top of the box office over its opening weekend.

2. Snow Dogs

After watching the trailer, this Disney film appears to look like a story following different talking dog characters. However, apart from the main dog Demon, the canines are not even central to the plot. After watching the film, audiences will realise the clip from the trailer that contains talking is dogs is from a dream sequence in the movie.

3. Drive

One woman sued the distributor of this movie because she believed the trailer was so deceiving. While the trailer makes it appear like a typical blockbuster car-chasing action film, it is actually slow-paced and contains little driving. The film focuses on cinematography, layers of meaning and character development rather than the typical Fast and the Furious story-arc that trailer viewers might have been expecting.

4. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Although Sweeney Todd has been a musical for years, the trailer concealed all of its musical themes. The confused audiences who packed into cinemas to see this movie were taken aback as it strayed from the typical action thriller genre as depicted in the trailer.

5. Passengers

Passengers, starring heavyweight Hollywood actors Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt, strayed away from the central plot in the trailer advertising. It appears as if the duo were woken up by accident on their space voyage, however, in the movie Pratt’s character wakes up Lawrence on purpose – effectively killing her. Some audiences were turned off by his moral decision.

6. Collateral Beauty

This movie has a trailer that is understandably not true to the movie story because the story has too many twists to be successfully summarised in a short trailer. Will Smith plays Howard Inlet, a grieving man who struggles to move on in life. He begins to write letters to Death, Time and Love and soon these abstract identities show up to help him heal. Later, viewers discover that Howard’s friends have actually hired actors to play the personifications of Death, Time and Love so that they can film him and prove that he insane in order to take control of his business. However, there is still one more twist that audiences weren’t expecting.

Have you ever been disappointed with a movie because of a misleading trailer? This horse trailer has been converted into a home

It's perched 50 metres from a precipice, so moving Chris Stead's converted horse trailer onto his Taylors Mistake cliff-top site was a precarious feat involving switchback turns and an extremely steep driveway.

More challenges were ahead for the trailer, which was tested by the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. "The truck was rocked off its props, it broke its guy wires, and virtually every glass and plate and the microwave and fridge all came to grief in a big pile in the middle of the floor," Chris says.

However, Chris has never felt unsafe in the cosy 40-square metre dwelling, which is surrounded by multimillion-dollar properties.

"I wake every morning to look out of my porthole window at the head of the bed to see the sun rising out of the sea," he says.

Chris bought the converted truck in 2006. Originally it was used as a workshop, but a kitchen and woodburner were added to make it liveable for Chris and his two children Millie and Connor, who have now grown up and left home.

Chris has occasionally rented the home on Bookabach, and is now waiting for guests after he handed out free accommodation vouchers during a visit to Nevada's Burning Man festival.

Summer's the time for barbecues and a beer on the deck, and Chris enjoys the reaction of visitors: "I can see their minds conjuring up a mental picture of a kooky gypsy number. First-time visitors often say it feels like you are on a boat," he says.

What's the best thing about this location?

There is so much to see. The ships anchored out at sea waiting to berth at the port, the seabirds and the waves hitting the rocks below. I am forever raising my glass to nature for providing me with such an inspiring foreground attraction

What's your approach to decorating the trailer?

Through my work [Chris owns Christchurch event company Theme Productions] I'm fortunate to come across a lot of interesting things. The Nepalese prayer flags were from a corporate event we did for a computer company. The driftwood on top of the stone retaining walls was taken from the beach at Greymouth as decoration and adorned the stage for the Pike River memorial. Not only did I like the association and the story of it, but it just fits so nicely in the rugged coastal environment.

What are the evenings like?

It's incredible. When I drive home at night, and it's a clear night, you can see the Milky Way with no light pollution. The nearest street light would be 200m away. When the moon comes out of the water, it's pretty impressive. You feel like you're at the edge of the world in a back-country hut despite being just 15 minutes from the city.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

I'd like to re-clad it. It's got a plywood finish with a frost cloth. I'll have to choose an aluminium sheet product that's more resilient but lightweight so the trailer's not too heavy for being on the road, when it eventually travels again – then I'll get to build on the site.

Written by Caroline Botting. Stephen King’s “It" trailer scares fans out of their minds

The first trailer has been released for a move adaption of Stephen King’s It. Georgie’s older brother Bill is a member of the group, and as the group begins to plane their schemes, the projector begins to malfunctions and then shows images of Bill’s family. A picture of his mother comes across the screen with her hair hiding her face which then slowly morphs into Pennywise.

Fans took to Twitter to voice their delight with the scariness of the trailer.

One user wrote, “Seriously, that was an amazing trailer. Trailer for “The Crown” has arrived

Covering Queen Elizabeth’s life, the official trailer for The Crown is finally here, and it looks better than we ever expected.

The 10-part drama series follows the early years of the then 26-year old Queen Elizabeth II's reign. With a production budget of about $170 million, it is officially the most expensive television series ever produced. That equates to 17 million dollars per episode.

The series is described as a look into the "personal, political and deeply private world of Queen Elizabeth II's struggle to reconcile her personal life and public role".

The explosive new trailer opens with then-Princess Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip, in Africa, when news comes that her father has died and she has become Queen. She is asked by an aide what her "regnal" name will be, since it was once common for monarchs to change their names when taking the throne. The Queen's own father, for example, whose name was Albert, ruled as King George VI.

"Let's not over-complicate matters unnecessarily," she declares. "My name is Elizabeth."

What follows is a look at the social politics of the British monarchies inner most circles – and it makes for great viewing. Clare Foy plays her majesty as a demure faced beauty with self–assurance far beyond her years, who must quickly come to terms with the weight of her title.

The Crown was directed by Stephen Daldry, whose credits include Billy Elliot and The Hours, and was produced by Andy Harries, who produced The Queen.

Watch the trailer above. Be warned, though, you’ll be hooked from the first scene. The series launches internationally on Netflix on November 4.

Will you be watching The Crown?
