The sweetest things Prince Harry and Meghan have said about Baby Archie

It’s only been a few weeks since Archie Harrison was born, and his doting parents have not stopped showering him with praise ever since. The little royal was born on May 6, 2019 with Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan sharing the exciting news within the walls of Windsor Castle a few days after his birth. Since then, here is everything the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have said about their first-born so far:

On witnessing Archie’s birth

Harry: "It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, but we’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support from everybody out there. It’s been amazing."

Harry: "I haven’t been in many births. This is definitely my first birth. But it was amazing. Absolutely incredible. I’m so incredibly proud of my wife. As every father and parent would ever say, your baby is absolutely amazing. But this little thing is absolutely to die for. So I’m just over the moon."

On parenthood

Meghan: "It’s magic. It’s pretty amazing. And here I have the two best guys in the world, so I’m really happy."

Harry: "Parenting is amazing. It’s only been what, two and a half days, three days? But we’re just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy to spend some precious times with him as he slowly starts to grow up."

On little Archie’s personality

Meghan: "He has the sweetest temperament. He’s really calm, and—he’s been, just been a dream, so it’s been a special couple days."

When visiting the Netherlands for the Invictus Games, Harry told competitor Dennis van der Stroon that Archie is “very quiet”: “Above all he said he was just amazed by the miracles in the world, and how his child has made a lot of people happy," van der Stroon said. "He told me he’s really happy that his son is so far very quiet..."

On their love for their son

During an official visit to the Oxford Children’s Hospital, Prince Harry told Amy Scullard, a mother whose son is currently battling cancer, that he “can’t imagine” life without Archie: "He said he’s getting used to the baby and how Archie has fitted into family life," Scullard said. "He said he just feels part of the family and he can’t imagine life without his son."

The Queen and Prince Philip’s sweetest photos together

Seventy years ago today, the Queen married the love of her life in a lavish Westminster Abbey ceremony. Now, as they celebrate their platinum anniversary, we’ve scoured the archives to find out a little more about this incredible couple.

1. They’re related – Both are great-great-grandchildren of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, making them third cousins.

2. It was love at first sight – For Elizabeth, at least, who was 13 when she met the 18-year-old Prince. “She never looked at anyone else,” her cousin Margaret Rhodes told Vanity Fair.

3. The Queen’s parents didn’t approve – And neither did her royal advisors. He was considered a poor foreigner, and it didn’t help that his sisters had married German noblemen linked to the Nazis. When Philip proposed, the Queen accepted immediately without consulting her parents.

4. Her parents tried to break them up – The King and Queen mother took their daughters on a four-month trip to South Africa to (reportedly) set Elizabeth up with a more eligible suitor. But it didn’t work. As soon as she returned to the UK, the engagement was announced.

5. The wedding cake weighed 227kg – The four-tiered dessert stood at nine feet tall. One tier was saved for Prince Charles’ christening and another was sent to Australia, from where the ingredients had been sourced.

6. Their marriage was purely based on love – Despite the disapproval of those closest to her, the Queen never regretted her decision. “Philip is an angel – he is so kind and thoughtful,” she wrote to her parents, and Philip once wrote to her, “Cherish Lilibet? I wonder if that word is enough to express what is in me.”

7. Their relationship is as strong as ever – “He is someone who doesn’t take easily to compliments,” the Queen said. “But he has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years, and I and his whole family, in this and many other countries, owe him a debt greater than he would ever claim or we shall ever know.”

Scroll through the gallery above as we take a look at their most beautiful photos together. The way they look at each other hasn’t changed since they first became engaged – pure love.

Princess Diana’s brother shares sweetest childhood memory of her

Princess Diana’s brother has revealed the reason why his older sister was once described as “impossible” by a school teacher.

Charles Spencer was speaking at The Diana Awards, a charity event set up in name of Princess Diana on the weekend, on what would have been Diana’s 55th birthday weekend.

The Earl told the 80 young recipients of the Diana Award that he was the first beneficiary of Diana's kindness to young people."

When he started school at King’s Lynn Norfolk, Charles recalled Diana’s concern for him on his first day of kindergarten.

“The first day I was there, the head teacher was teaching Diana in her class and she said she was impossible, she was wriggling around and not able to pay attention,” he said.

The teacher told Diana, "'Fine, go and check on him now.' And she left the class and came to my classroom and came back and said to the headmistress 'He's fine!' and sat down. She always had this affinity for young children."

A seven-year-old Diana with her brother Charles in 1968.

The Diana Award recognises young people who are making a difference in the lives of others.

Charles added: "When she died, one of the tragedies for me as her brother was I thought, 'That will be that,' and she will disappear into the background.

"Various things were put forward as a commemoration of her, and all of them were lovely, but this is the best because it's a whole generation of new people bearing her name and carrying on her work. Thank you all for doing that."

Related links:

Having a sibling makes boys selfless

Sibling rivalries in my childhood shaped who I am today

In pictures: Kids behaving badly
