How this spoon is improving lives of Parkinson’s sufferers
<p>Of all the things you might expect one of the biggest companies in the world to invest in, an item of cutlery probably isn’t one of them. But that’s exactly what Google has done, throwing their support (and their funds) towards a revolutionary spoon that’s improving thousands of lives.</p>
<p>Designed by Lift Lab (which was bought by Google in September), Liftware is a range of anti-shake utensils aimed at helping people who suffer health conditions causing tremors or limited mobility. Sensors in the spoon (which can also be fitted with a fork attachment) adjusts vibrations to counteract the user’s tremors.</p>
<p>It could be a life-changer for Parkinson’s disease sufferers, stroke survivors and those with Huntington’s disease, for whom the simple, everyday task of eating a meal can be difficult and frustrating.</p>
