Bruce Willis' heartwarming reaction to granddaughter amid dementia battle

<p>Bruce Willis' daughter Rumer has shared what the actor is like as a grandfather, amid his battle with frontotemporal dementia.</p> <p>Rumer candidly revealed that the now-retired actor is “incredibly loving and kind” and despite his FTD, his face “lights up” whenever he sees his granddaughter Louetta.</p> <p>“His face lights up when he sees Louetta,” Rumer told <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/02/01/entertainment/bruce-willis-face-lights-up-with-granddaughter-amid-dementia-battle/?utm_medium=browser_notifications&amp;utm_source=pushly&amp;utm_content=Entertainment/Living%20Audience&amp;utm_campaign=4164834" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>The New York Post</em></a>.</p> <p>“And I’m just so grateful to have that kind of spark of mischief and fun and and play no matter what age I am.”</p> <p>Louetta is Rumer’s 9-month-old baby girl with partner, Derek Richard Thomas.</p> <p>Rumer also shared that her father is most like David Addison Jr, a character he played on the hit 80s show <em>Moonlighting</em>.</p> <p>“So charming, so funny, so silly … kind of mischievous glint in his eye, kind and sweet,” she said.</p> <p>“And so I feel like that’s really the epitome of who my dad is.</p> <p>“And that is so true to this day.”</p> <p>Despite his dementia diagnosis, Rumer said that her father has not lost any of his trademark silliness and sense of humour.</p> <p>“He’s so incredibly loving and kind,” she said.</p> <p>“My dad is absolutely the reason I (have) my taste in music (and) some of my humour.</p> <p>“Both of my parents are so silly.”</p> <p>In 2022 Bruce's family announced that the <em>Die Hard</em> star was going to retire, as he was diagnosed with <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/bruce-willis-forced-to-retire-after-medical-diagnosis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">aphasia</a>, a disorder that affects a person’s ability to communicate.</p> <p>A year later it was revealed that it had progressed to <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/health/caring/cruel-disease-bruce-willis-given-heartbreaking-new-diagnosis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">frontotemporal dementia</a>.</p> <p>His family have since kept fans updated on the star's health.</p> <p><em>Images: Instagram</em></p> <p> </p>

Jimmy Barnes' granddaughter's touching tribute at Red Hot Summer

<p>With Jimmy Barnes currently recovering from <a href="https://www.oversixty.co.nz/health/caring/the-dose-of-magic-helping-jimmy-barnes-recover-after-surgery" target="_blank" rel="noopener">open heart surgery</a>, there was no way he could perform at the Red Hot Summer Tour, but his family and friends have come together to put on a show in honour of the star. </p> <p>The<em> Barnes All-Stars</em>, formed by none other than Jimmy's own daughter Mahalia, includes stars like Jon Stevens, Chris Cheney, and his legendary <em>Cold Chisel</em> bandmate, Ian Moss.</p> <p>The band have been headlining for the first three shows of the tour, and performed classic songs by <em>Cold Chisel</em> and Jimmy Barnes, which were compiled by the rock star himself.</p> <p>While the band put on a stellar show, Jimmy's granddaughter, Ruby Rogers' performance of the the Chisel classic <em>Flame Trees, </em>stole the hearts of fans. </p> <p>"In case you didn’t get to see this fantastic performance, this is granddaughter Ruby filling in for me on the weekend," Jimmy tweeted, gushing over her performance. </p> <p>"I love her so much.  Thanks everyone. Nelson Mandela's granddaughter dies at just 43

<p>Zoleka Mandela, the granddaughter of Nelson Mandela, has died of cancer at the age of 43. She passed away on the evening of Monday, September 25th, surrounded by friends and family.</p> <p>Mandela had been battling cancer for several years. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32, but went into remission. However, the cancer returned last year and had metastasised to her liver and lungs.</p> <p>Despite her illness, Mandela remained active in her community and continued to advocate for cancer prevention and awareness. She was also a vocal advocate for road safety after her 13-year-old daughter, Zenani, was killed in a car crash in 2010.</p> <p>In an interview with Kaya FM in April, Mandela said: "I'm learning to be okay with my eventuality."</p> <p>“The Nelson Mandela Foundation extends its heartfelt condolences to the Mandela family on the passing of Zoleka Mandela, tragically last night,” the Nelson Mandela Foundation said in a statement. “We mourn the loss of a beloved grandchild of Mum Winnie and Madiba and a friend of the Foundation.”</p> <p>Zoleka's frank disclosures about her illness and her strength in the face of adversity earned her a devoted following on social media.</p> <p>"Utterly tragic loss of a human being in her grandfather's footsteps. Shamoun, told Judge Lynn Scaduto at a court hearing in Los Angeles in mid-May that "the parties would like to report that they've reached a settlement."</p> <p>"The families are happy," Shamoun told reporters outside court. Nelson Mandela's granddaughter accuses Sussexes of "stealing" famous quotes

<p>Nelson Mandela's granddaughter has torn into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, accusing them of “stealing" the statesman's words and using his name to “make millions”.</p> <p>Ndileka Mandela, 57, slammed the Sussexes over the Netflix documentary Live To Lead, where the couple use footage of Mandela leaving prison in 1990.</p> <p>Harry says in the trailer for their latest film, part of their $100million (£83million) deal with the streaming giant: “This was inspired by Nelson Mandela”.</p> <p>Ndileka said she was angry that the couple appear to compare their own battles in the Royal Family with her grandfather's long walk to freedom, calling it “upsetting and tedious”.</p> <p>She said: “That's chalk and cheese, there is no comparison. I know the Nelson Mandela Foundation has supported the initiative but people have stolen grandfather's quotes for years and have used his legacy because they know his name sells – Harry and Meghan are no different from them”.</p> <p>She added in an interview with The Australian: “I admire Harry for having the confidence to break away from an institution as iconic as the Royal Family. Grandad rebelled against an arranged marriage to find his own path in life.</p> <p>“But it comes at a price, you have to then fund your own life, I've made peace with people using granddad's name but it's still deeply upsetting and tedious every time it happens”.</p> <p>In the trailer for Live To Lead, co-produced by the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Harry quotes Mandela and says: “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we’ve lived”.</p> <p>Meghan then appears on screen and finishes the quote: “It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead”.</p> <p>The couple were both executive producers, according to the credits, and introduce each of the episodes, talking over the opening credits.</p> <p><em>Image: Getty</em></p>

Prince Charles' first meeting with granddaughter Lilibet was "very emotional"

<p>During the celebrations of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, Prince Charles was often spotted in grandpa mode with Prince William and Kate's three children. </p> <p>According to royal aides, the Duke of Wales also spent quality time with his other grandkids, Archie and Lilibet, as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited the UK for the milestone celebrations. </p> <p>One of Prince Charles' closest royal aides said the 73-year-old's first meeting with his one-year-old granddaughter was "very emotional".</p> <p>"It was a fantastic visit and of course the Prince was delighted to see his grandson and meet his granddaughter for the first time," the source told UK reporters.</p> <p>"It was fantastic to see them. It was wonderful to have them back in Britain, the Prince [Charles] and the Duchess [of Cornwall] were absolutely thrilled to see them," they added of seeing the Sussexes.</p> <p>"The Prince of course hasn't seen his grandson Archie for a bit of time and so it was very, very, very special to have some time with him. He hadn't met Lilibet, his granddaughter, and so to meet her for the first time was I think very emotional, a very wonderful thing."</p> <p>Lilibet, who was born in Los Angeles on June 4th 2021, also met the Queen, her namesake, during the Sussexes first trip to the UK in some time. </p> <p>It is believed the Lilibet was introduce to Her Majesty on June 2nd following the Trooping the Colour event to kick off the four-day celebrations. </p> <p>Lili also celebrated her first birthday during her first visit to the UK, with photos from a party at Frogmore Cottage being released by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their return to the US after the short trip.</p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images / Instagram </em></p>

Terminally ill man graduates college alongside his granddaughter

<p>A grandfather-granddaughter duo from Texas have shared a heart-warming milestone together.</p> <p>Melanie Salazar, 23, and her grandfather Rene Neira, 88, have both graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) alongside each other.</p> <p>Rene first began his higher education in the 1950s, but when he fell in love and started a family, he was unable to finish his studies in the traditional four-year span.</p> <p>Throughout the years, Rene took part in online classes, but decided to re-enroll in college in 2016: the same year his granddaughter began her freshman year at the same school.</p> <p><span>"It just so happened that he wanted to go back to school again at the same time that I was starting." Melanie told CNN.</span></p> <p><span>It wasn't until the week of graduation they found out he would be honoured.</span></p> <p><span>"It was definitely an early Christmas miracle that they were willing to recognize him." Salazar said.</span></p> <p><span>"When we walked past the curtains onto the stage, I was overcome with emotion and started to tear up because I didn't know that we would actually get to share that moment together." </span></p> <p><span>Salazar said, "I told him afterwards, 'You did it, grandpa! College is over!'"</span></p> <p><span>Melanie received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications, while Rene got a degree of recognition in economics. </span></p> <p><span>"It's never too late to go back to school." Elvis Presley’s granddaughter announces bold new "calling"

<p>Eight months after the death of her brother Ben Keough, Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Riley has announced that she just completed her training to become a "death doula".</p> <p>The actress took to Instagram to thank the community of people who taught her “conscious dying and death work.”</p> <p>"We are taught that it’s a morbid subject to talk about. Or were so afraid of it that we’re unable to talk about it... then, of course, it happens to us, and we are very ill-prepared," she wrote.</p> <p>"I think it's so important to be educated on conscious dying and death the way we educate ourselves on birth and conscious birthing. We prepare ourselves so rigorously for the entrance and have no preparation for our exit. Grandma gives birth to own granddaughter

<p>Julie Loving just gave 29-year-old daughter the gift of life for a second time. The 51-year-old delivered her granddaughter as the gestational carrier on November 2.</p> <p>New mum Breanna Lockwood took to Instagram to share the exciting news along with her daughter’s name - Briar Juliette Lockwood - an ode to her own mother.</p> <p>“My mom was an absolute rockstar through a difficult delivery,” Lockwood wrote in the post. “The sacrifices she took to bring this little slice of heaven into our world takes my breath away. Holding my daughter in my arms my heart is bursting. If she did not have her mom, she wouldn’t have a baby.”</p> <p>In the second post since baby Briar’s arrival, Lockwood shared she is “Just living in new mama bliss!” and updated followers that her mum is recovering and enjoying her rest.</p>

<div class="post_body_wrapper"> <div class="post_body"> <div class="body_text "> <p>One of Princess Diana's younger bridesmaids detailed her "very lucky" escape after she was a guest on Jeffrey Epstein's island.</p> <p>Clementine Hambro took two flights on Epstein's jet, including one dubbed the Lolita Express.</p> <p>On both occasions, she had been at Epstein's luxury homes where he spent many years abusing young girls.</p> <p>She also was at Epstein's Island Little St James in the US Virgin Islands, which was dubbed by locals as Paedo Island.</p> <p>Miss Hambro, a great-granddaughter of Sir Winston Churchill, said she has been "completely horrified" by the revelations about the financier’s conduct and her "heart breaks for all the survivors".</p> <p>The now-married mother of four said she did not suffer or witness any abuse, but added that she hopes the victims "get the justice they so deserve".</p> <p>She issued a statement after flight logs, which were released as part of court documents, revealed that she flew on the jets to Epstein's visits to his ranch in New Mexico as well as the island.</p> <p>She made the trips back in 1999, where she was a 23-year-old employee at Christie's auction house in New York.</p> <p>In a statement last night, Miss Hambro said: "The first flight was a work trip with female colleagues to look at Epstein’s new home in Santa Fe to discuss what art he was going to buy.</p> <p>"The second trip, to Little St James, was a personal invitation, which I thought would be fun to accept, but I didn’t know anyone there, didn’t really enjoy myself, and never went back. My heart breaks for all the survivors, now I know what happened on that island.</p> <p>"In the course of those two trips, I was not abused, nor did I see anyone abused, or anything untoward happen, with minors or otherwise. I have been completely horrified about the revelations of his conduct since then. I was clearly very lucky, my heart goes out to those who were abused by him, and I trust they get the justice they so deserve."</p> <p>She also apologised for being "young and naive".</p> <p>"I was young and naive, and could not conceive of what was to unfold."</p> <p>She only travelled on the jets when leaving his homes, according to the logs. “She slipped”: Grandfather speaks out about 1-year-old granddaughter’s fatal fall on cruise ship

<p>A northern Indiana grandfather has insisted that he had no idea a cruise ship window was open when his granddaughter, 18 month old Chloe Wiegand, fell to her death on a cruise ship.</p> <p>"I didn't realise there wasn't any glass until the absolutely that it was too late," Salvatore Anello told "<em><a rel="noopener" href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cruise-ship-death-salvatore-anello-grandfather-charged-death-of-chloe-wiegand-says-hes-colorblind/" target="_blank">CBS This Morning</a></em>" in a story that aired Tuesday.</p> <p>"When she first fell, I thought she fell in front of me. She slipped."</p> <p>Police initially said that Salvatore Anello told officers he lost his grip while holding the girl.</p> <p>Prosecutors have since charged Anello last month with negligent homicide in the death of his 18-month-old granddaughter.</p> <p>If convicted, the charge carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison.</p> <p>When asked about the case, Anello said he’s devastated.</p> <p>"Chloe being gone is the worst thing ever so I'm like, whatever, you know," Anello said. "There's nothing worse that they could do to me than what's already happened."</p> <p>"Whether, you know, they find me guilty of whatever or not. It's inconsequential because of what has already happened is so horrible," Anello said.</p> <p>The grandfather also said that his colour blindness might have impacted whether or not he was able to see the glass.</p> <p>"Some of the people who've been on the boat have written to me and said, 'David, the windows are tinted, and so it is pretty easy to recognize that it's open,'" CBS News correspondent David Begnaud said.</p> <p>"I'm colourblind, David," Anello said. "I don't know. I just never saw it. … I've been told that that's a reason that it might have happened."</p> <p>Anello is scheduled to appear in court in Puerto Rico on December, 17th .</p>

<p>Princess Grace of Monaco’s granddaughter Charlotte Casiraghi has celebrated her new marriage again with a religious ceremony in Southern France.</p> <p>It was the second wedding for Charlotte and her husband, film producer Dimitri Rassam.</p> <p>They had a civil service on June 1 at Monaco’s Prince’s Palace.</p> <p>The first service was where Charlotte paid homage to her famous grandmother, as the necklace she chose to wear in the above photo is her grandmother's Cartier piece, and is one of the most celebrated of the family’s Cartier treasures.</p> <p>The three-strand necklace, according to <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.townandcountrymag.com/style/jewelry-and-watches/a27698288/charlotte-casiraghi-princess-grace-wedding-jewelry/" target="_blank"><em>Town and Country Magazine</em></a>, was created from approximately 64 carats of round and emerald cut diamonds which were set in platinum.</p> <p>It was a gift from Prince Rainier to his bride, Princess Grace, on their wedding day in 1956.</p> <p>Granddaughter Charlotte's second wedding service was held in the village of Saint-Remy-De-Provence on the weekend.</p> <p>"It is this particular love of Provence she wants to share with her family and friends," a friend told<span> </span><a rel="noopener" href="https://people.com/royals/charlotte-casiraghi-monaco-weds-second-religious-marriage-ceremony/" target="_blank"><em>People</em></a>.</p> <p>Charlotte, 32, wore a gown by Italian designer Giambattista Valli, who shared a photo of the couple on Instagram.</p> <p>"Congratulations Charlotte Casiraghi and Dimitri Rassam on their wedding in Saint-Remy-de-Provence.</p> <p>"The bride wore a custom Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown. 61-year-old grandmother gives birth to granddaughter

The Queen’s granddaughter Zara Tindall just announced a very special name for her new daughter

<p>After welcoming their second child on June 18, Zara and Mike Tindall have announced the name of their new daughter – Lena Elizabeth Tindall.</p> <p>Lena Elizabeth Tindall is the seventh great-grandchild for the Queen and the fourth grandchild for Princess Anne, the Queen’s daughter.</p> <p>Zara gave birth at Stroud Maternity Unit in Gloucestershire, with Lena weighing 4.2kg.</p> <p>A spokeswoman for the couple said: "The name is Lena Elizabeth. It was just a name they liked."</p> <p>Lena’s middle name, of course, is in honour of Zara’s grandmother, the Queen.</p> <p>The newest addition to the royal family is 19th in line for the throne and will have plenty of second cousins to play with, including Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – who is only two months older than Lena.</p> <p>Zara’s eldest daughter, 4-year-old Mia, has been charming royal watchers with her bold personality.</p> <p>The birth of little Lena is particularly special for the royal couple as Zara suffered a miscarriage in December 2016.</p> <p>In May 2017, Mike told<em> The Sunday Time</em>s that Mia had helped the pair cope with their grief.</p> <p>“The saving grace for us has been Mia, our daughter who is now 3,” he said.</p> <p>“However down we feel she will come running up in our faces. When I was playing I hardly saw her; now we can see her grow up. I can take her swimming and I can take her to Ninja Tots. You’ll never be able to see her there because she disappears in a puff of smoke.”</p>

<p><span>A man from the US has been found guilty of stabbing to death Morgan Freeman’s step-granddaughter E’dena Hines.</span></p> <p><span>Judge Ellen Biben convicted Lamar Davenport, Hines’ boyfriend, on lesser manslaughter charges for knifing her 25 times on a sidewalk in full view of pedestrians and neighbours in August 2015.</span></p> <p><span>Davenport’s lawyers argued that their client, who stood on trial for murder charges, attacked the granddaughter of Morgan Freeman’s second wife, in an attack that occurred after using hallucinogen PCP.</span></p> <p><span>During the three-week trial, eyewitnesses who watched as Davenport knifed his 33-year-old girlfriend in the chest multiple times, shared their testimony.</span></p> <p><span>Hines’ estranged biological mum, Deena Adair, took to the stand to emotionally recount how they were reconnecting in the days prior to her death.</span></p> <p><span>Hines’ mother was in court on Monday to hear the verdict from Judge Biben.</span></p> <p><span>Hines, who has no blood relation to Morgan Freeman, was raised by the actor’s second wife, Myrna Colley-Lee.</span></p> <p><span>Previously, Freeman and Hines were inundated with rumours that they had a sexual relationship.</span></p> <p><span>During Davenport’s trial, the affair was confirmed when lawyers for both the defence and prosecution stipulated that Hines had “disclosed to Lamar Davenport and others that her grandfather engaged in a sexually inappropriate relationship with her.”</span></p> <p><span>It is unknown when the relationship took place and where it occurred.</span></p> <p><span>Davenport’s lawyers requested for Biben to find Davenport guilty of a lesser manslaughter charge after he did not meet the guidelines for the defence of not guilty by reason of insanity.</span></p> <p><span>Prosecutors argued that Davenport fully intended to kill Hines as he attacked no one else in the street and the couple had previously smoked PCP together without incident.</span></p> <p><span>Davenport will receive his sentencing on May 29 and could face up to 25 years in jail. </span></p>
