Not meant to happen: Horror as three killed during blogger’s birthday party

Three people have been killed after dry ice was poured into a swimming pool during a social media influencer’s birthday party in Moscow, Russia.

The lives taken were in the midst of celebrating the 29th birthday of Yekaterina Didenko, an Instagram star located in the Russian capital.

About 25kg of dry ice was tipped into the pool, a move that was meant to simply create a “visual effect” to impress guests.

However, people inside the pool reportedly instantly began to choke and lose consciousness.

Three people including Ms Didenko’s husband, 32-year-old Valentin Didenko, is reportedly among the dead.

Dry ice, which is frozen carbon dioxide, produces a heavy vapour when put into water.

The cause of deaths has not been revealed yet but the vapour from the dry ice can cause an elevated level of carbon dioxide in blood when released in an inadequately ventilated space.

p>The Russian Investigative Committee is looking into the incident.

It has been confirmed there were additional injuries on a number of other people, however the number has not been specified.
