The genius hotel room hack that no-one ever thought of
Hotel room key card holders are just as irritating for travellers as they are helpful because the moment you remove your card from the slot in your room, the electricity immediately cuts out.
This makes it difficult to have your devices on charge when you pop outside or when you leave your partner to sleep in.
However, there is an easy fix for this travel dilemma that went over everyone’s heads.
Twitter user Katyagar Moonagon has revealed that you can place any card in the slot to turn the electricity on.
“[I] wanted to charge my battery pack whilst I was I eating dinner, but needed my keycard,” she said.
She then put her supermarket loyalty card into the slot instead and it solved the problem.
“I turned off all the lights manually, as not to be too wasteful, just needed to bump up the old battery pack for an hour or two,” she said.
The picture has been re-tweeted hundreds of times and some have even called the solution life-changing.
Suzanne Azzopardi said, “I’m 42 and didn’t know you could put any card in the bloody hotel light thingy.”
Hotel workers were also amazed by the travel hack.
“I’m dumbfounded. I worked in 5 Star Hotels and never came across that,” Twitter user Ronan Alex Dunne said.
