$2 item that will keep kids happy on holidays

Holidays with the whole family are a great way to bond and create lasting memories, but let’s face it, it can be difficult to stay sane when you’ve got the little ones running amok 24/7. Thankfully, one parent may have just found the solution – and it’ll only set you back $2!

In a recent post in Reddit’s parenting community, a parent revealed the one thing that will keep both kid and adult happy is – drumroll, please – a balloon. Yes, the humble balloon.

“Many times I have been saved travelling with balloons,” user orchid_breeder wrote. “We've played with them in a hotel room when the kid needed to get energy out.

“When I had a plane that was delayed at O'Hare [Airport, Chicago] I was able to whip out a balloon that was in my carry on and blow it up. We found a gate that was empty and played volleyball over the seats for 90 minutes before the plane boarded. There's almost infinite games you can invent with a balloon, and they work as well for 15-year-olds as they do for two-year-olds.”

And the best part? “It’s fun for me too.”

A mother who replied to the post reveals she has a similar secret, only with inflatable beach balls instead. However, it almost got her and her family into a lot of trouble…

“Just be careful when talking about them,” user ally-saurus warns. “I once brought an inflatable airplane toy on a trip (thought I was genius for finding it!) and I actually said to my traveling companion as we strolled through the airport, ‘Once we're through security we should find a nice quiet area and blow the airplane up.’ Yeah. Genius. Definitely glad no one was within earshot for that one…”
