Flight attendants reveal the one drink you should never order

If you’re catching an early flight, you might be tempted to request a coffee or two from your flight attendant to try and wake up. Or, perhaps you’re taking a late flight and need a tea to help you relax and fall asleep. Well, according to cabin crew, you should probably forgo both.

A flight attendant has revealed to Business Insider that cabin crew avoid hot water on the plane altogether. “They will not drink plain coffee, and they will not drink plain tea.”

Why? Because none of the crew members are ever sure how clean the water really is. Shockingly, one Environmental Protection Agency report in the US found one in eight planes failed water safety tests.

According to one ex-hostie, the water itself isn’t the issue but rather what holds it. “The water isn’t so bad but how often do you really think those tanks are cleaned?” she revealed on Reddit last year.

A statement from the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA has seemingly confirmed this, slamming the water safety regulations. “Water onboard is regulated under the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure safe drinking water on the aircraft. The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA pushed for this regulation over 15 years ago. The regulation gives broad discretion to airlines on how often they must test the water and flush the tanks. AFA does not believe this regulation goes far enough or is sufficiently enforced.”

Of course, this doesn’t mean you can’t drink water on your next flight – just make sure it’s bottled. Tell us in the comments below, what do you think about these revelations?
