10 of the most annoying things on a flight

Flying can be stressful at times, particularly if you’re not being mindful of your surroundings. Here are 10 things you might be doing that are annoying everyone else on your flight. Because the last thing you want to be in at 40,000 feet is an argument.

1. Eating pungent food

Tuna might be a great sandwich filler, but in a cramped flight cabin it’s the last thing you want to be smelling. Avoid pungent food and your neighbours will be forever grateful.

2. Walking around barefoot

The cabin crew might encourage you to feel at home, but the passengers around you mightn’t be so obliging. Also, the floors are covered will all kind of nasty germs!

3. Being too chatting to your neighbour

This is a fine line. While it’s nice to be friendly with people around you, it’s generally not a great idea to talk their ear off as people appreciate their own space.

4. Taking up too much overhead

There’s roughly enough space for every passenger on a plane to have a bag in the overhead compartment, but some people have a bad habit of taking liberties.

5. Being rude to your flight attendant

This just isn’t on, and if it seems like they’re taking a little while to attend to your request it might just be because they have a lot on their plate. Take a deep breath.

6. Not sharing aisle space

Not only will this make life harder for the other passengers on your flight, it will also make life infinitely more annoying for the flight attendants.

7. Drinking too much alcohol

There’s a fine line between the passenger who’s having a couple of drinks to calm their nerves and the passenger who’s turning the inflight service into a schoolies trip.

8. Hogging the armrests

While you shouldn’t back down if someone is encroaching on your space, it’s important to never hog the armrests otherwise you’ll have another passenger scorned.

9. Clicking your fingers to get someone’s attention

There’s really no excuse for this, unless it’s your first time out in public.

10. Trying to beat the crowd out of the aircraft

And this is perhaps the most annoying one! When the plane lands and the seatbelt sign is off everyone gets up at the one time it’s a recipe for chaos. Instead be patient and wait until it’s your turn to get up from the plane and retrieve your bags.

Are you guilty of any of these flight faux pas? What’s the thing that annoys you most when you’re travelling through the air? Let us know in the comments.
