Top 10 countries to visit in 2016

Lonely Planet has released its annual ranking of the best countries to travel to in 2016.

The decision is made by a team of experts at the Australian-based travel guide’s headquarters, who consider aspects like major events, anniversaries, updates to infrastructure rand other “it” factors.

The title of “Best Country to Travel to in 2016” went to Botswana, which may seem a little out of left-field for some, but sounds like an interesting place to check out. Lonely Planet suggests Botswana’s journey to become, “One of Africa’s most stable, thriving societies is inspirational; the country celebrates 50 years of independence in 2016 and there’s a lot for it to shout about, not least the way it has balanced economic growth with protecting its natural riches.”
