Airline offers lifetime of free travel to baby born mid-air

As any mother would agree, giving birth at sea level is no walk in the park. So, you can only imagine what was going through the mind of the woman in this story, who realised she had gone into premature labour 35,000 feet in the air.

But thanks to the efforts of the crew and a passenger, who was a trained nurse, the woman on the Jet Airways flight from Saudi Arabia to India successfully gave birth.

And, after being rushed to hospital upon landing in Mumbai, she was contacted by the airline, which offered free lifetime air travel tickets to her newborn son.

Jet Airways thanked crew and the nurse for their efforts in a statement which read, “Jet Airways commends its crew for their response and promptness that saw them successfully translate their training into lifesaving action.”

Most airlines allow expectant mothers to travel until they are 36 weeks pregnant, but require a signed letter from a doctor from 28 weeks onward.

What an entry into the world!
