“Above and beyond”: Mum gives baby unusual name after mid-flight birth

A mother has gone into early labor and delivered her healthy baby on board a flight with the help of an attendant.

The passenger was on board a Frontier Airline flight on May 17 from Denver (DEN) to Orlando (MCO) when she went into labor.

Flight attendant Diana Giraldo helped the mother to the bathroom where she assisted in delivering the healthy baby.

The airline shared the incredible news on Facebook commending Ms Giraldo’s quick thinking during delivery.

“Diana again went above and beyond after the completion of the flight to coordinate our return to Orlando,” Captain Chris Nye said.

“The whole crew really did a great job. I transferred controls and flying duties to my First Officer as I coordinated the diversion.

“Dispatch did a great job as well by suggesting Pensacola Airport and getting a gate and paramedics ready for us.

“This was a job well done, and I was happy to see everyone working together to successfully deliver a newborn on an aircraft!”

The airline revealed that the mother named the baby’s middle name “Sky” because she was born on the “mother and daughter plane tail, Luna and Lilly the Wolves”.
