See the world’s first ever underwater cruise ship lounge
There’s nothing like cruising the high seas, but have you ever dreamed of getting a little more up close and personal with the world’s oceans? Now you can, thanks to a gorgeous innovation by French cruise company Ponant, which has created the first ever underwater lounge.
Dubbed the “Blue Eye,” the lounge is a stunning, ultra-modern place for passengers to kick back with a view that few get to see. It features two massive whale eye-esque portholes that provide sweeping views of the ocean’s depths. There are also cameras, surround sound and digital screens to project live images of the deep blue around them.
The lounge will be rolled out to four of the line’s Explorer ships – Le Bougainville, Le Dumont-d'Urville, Le Lapérouse and Le Champlain. The newly-designed yachts will set out to sea next year and in 2019, taking passengers to smaller, hard-to-reach ports and offering once-in-a-lifetime wildlife experiences and tours from your very own on-board nature experts.
