What a perfect day on a cruise looks like

You want to get the most out of every day onboard – here’s how to plan the perfect 24 hours.

Rise and shine

Yes, we know, holidays are for sleeping in. But trust us on this one – it’s worth getting up early. The ship is quiet, the pool is empty and you can get a great start on your day as the sun comes up. Grab a cup of coffee, take a spin around the jogging track, have an early morning swim or find a nice sunny spot to read the paper. You can always have a nap later.

Try something new

Modern cruise ships are floating playgrounds, so on this perfect day you’re going to take advantage of some of the great activities onboard. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try a surfing or skydiving simulator, rock climbing or a zip line across the deck. For something a little more sedate, tee off at the mini golf course, join a yoga class or learn how to play bridge.

Go somewhere new for lunch

Most cruisers head straight to the buffet for lunch, usually out of habit. Depending on the size of your ship, there are going to be anywhere up to a dozen other dining venues to try. Eat a full three-course meal in the main restaurant, sit outside in the sun for a freshly grilled hamburger or go upmarket at one of the specialty restaurants.

Take a moment to indulge

A perfect day can’t be all go go go. This afternoon, take some time out for yourself. This could be a treatment in the spa, relaxing in the hot tub in the adults’ only area, watching a movie or having a little wander through the onboard shops. And if you’re feeling sleepy, now’s the perfect time for that nap.

Get set for sundowners

Sunset cocktails should be mandatory on every holiday. Find yourself the perfect bar – maybe out on deck, up in the observatory or tucked away in the jazz lounge. Settle in for a few pre-dinner drinks and catch up on the day with your cruise buddies and your new friends.

Hit the clubs

After dinner, don’t toddle off to bed. There is so much to do after hours – see one of the stage shows, catch a band in the pub, watch a movie under the stars or go dancing in the nightclub. It’s the perfect end to a perfect day – and you can always have a sleep in tomorrow.
