Young siblings found dead in car after dad left them inside for five hours

Two young children have died after they were allegedly left in their father’s truck for five hours in 32C heat.

Teagan Dennis, 4, and younger brother Ryan, 3, were found on the footwell of the truck on Saturday in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the US, according to Fox23.

Police say the children’s father, Dustin Lee Dennis, had driven his truck to a convenience store around midday.

He then drove back home before falling asleep for four to five hours, said a Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Upon waking up, he couldn’t find his children and looked in their bedrooms only to find that they weren’t there.

He found them on the floor of the trick and brought them into the living room, but paramedics who arrived at the scene pronounced them dead.

The 31-year-old was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

“The children had not been checked on for nearly five hours during the time they were locked inside the vehicle,” the arrest report stated.

While the cause of the children’s death has not been revealed, temperatures in the area reached 32C according to the US National Weather Service.
