“We’ll see it through with you”: Jimmy Barnes farewells beloved friend

Jimmy Barnes has paid tribute to his lifelong friend and acclaimed promoter Colleen Ironside as part of a multi-day farewell in Thailand.

Barnes took to Instagram on Tuesday morning to share a slew of photos from the memorial service for his “kind friend”.

“Day 1 of saying goodbye to our dear Colleen at Wat Taht Thong, Bangkok,” the rocker wrote.

“This will take four days until cremation. Old friends and family will gather and talk about the years. The monks will chant every night and we will sing yours songs. We see it through with you my kind friend.”

The post is the latest Barnes has made in honour of Colleen, with the former Cold Chisel member sharing details of his friend’s upcoming service.

“We’re off to Thailand to farewell my good friend Colleen Ironside,” Barnes shared, along with a way for fans to join a livestream of the service.

Ironside was one of Australia’s first globally acclaimed music promoters and the managing director of the Asia-wide tour company Live Limited.

The 69-year-old died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Hua Hin, Thailand, on July 22.

Following her passing, Barnes, who considered Ironside as part of his family, shared a heartfelt tribute to her online.

“It’s taken me a few days to write something about the loss of our dear friend Colleen Ironside,” he wrote.

“My friend for forty five years, so close to all of us that she’s one of the family.

“Through all we went through you were always there for me, you never changed. I will miss you, 🙏 x.”
