Queen forced to cancel favourite event for second year running

Queen Elizabeth has been forced to cancel one of her favourite royal events for a second year in a row.

Her Majesty, 94, was overjoyed to possibly hold the event on June 12 to mark her 95th birthday, but unfortunately her plans had to stop after consulting with the government and other parties.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said on Saturday: “Following consultation with Government and other relevant parties it has been agreed that The Queen‘s Official Birthday Parade, also known as Trooping the Colour, will not go ahead this year in its traditional form in central London.

“Options for an alternative Parade, in the quadrangle at Windsor Castle, are being considered.

“The annual Garter service, usually held in June, will not take place this year.”

With new plans being considered, it is likely Her Majesty may celebrate her birthday surrounded by family at Windsor Castle.

In 2020, the royal had a stripped-back and socially distanced Trooping the Colour ceremony.

It was the first time in 125 years where the event was held at Windsor Castle.

Trooping the Colour is usually held in public and thousands upon thousands typically gather to watch the ceremony unfold.
