Prince William and Prince Harry break their silence on huge royal change

On Tuesday evening, the Cambridges and Sussexes released a statement outlining their thoughts on a big change occurring within the original royal charity.

The “fab four” have said goodbye to a close confidante who was working with the royal family for a number of years.

Lorraine Heggessey, CEO of the Royal Charity Foundation, will be stepping down from the role – coincidentally within the same time span of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan revealing they would be parting ways to formally start their own charitable projects.

What is sure to be an emotional departure for both Prince William and Duchess Kate was lamented in a heartfelt statement which said: “Lorraine has played an integral role in our charitable initiatives over the last two-and-a-half years.

“We are very grateful for her hard work and support, and wish her the very best for the future.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also revealed similar feelings to the departure.

“It has been a great pleasure to work alongside Lorraine over the past couple of years, to champion the causes that we feel so strongly about, and we wish her well for the next stage of her career,” a statement from the couple read.

Lorraine is thought to be stepping down as CEO in Britain’s Autumn months.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s former press secretary will be taking over on October 1 and he will work closely with the couple as the charity will revolve mainly around them.

Lorraine shared her own sweet departing words, particularly referring to her and Duchess Kate’s, Prince William and Prince Harry’s mental health campaigning.

“This was one of the most amazing opportunities of my career. It has been a huge honour to work with Their Royal Highnesses to try to change mindsets on a wide range of issues.

“I am very proud of what The Royal Foundation has achieved during this exciting period of growth.

“However, as it enters its next phase, I believe it is the right time for me to step down and to pursue my interests in the media sector.”

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have already kickstarted their own plan to start a new charity that will work alongside the Royal Foundation.

An announcement last week said the new organisation would be called Sussex Royal.
