Prince William and Kate to break royal tradition for Prince George

Prince George only started school this year but there’s already talk about what secondary school the four-year-old will attend.

It’s an unofficial royal rule but tradition dictates that senior members of the royal family attend single sex boarding schools, but rumour has it that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge might break from royal tradition when it comes to Prince George.

“The word on the street is that his parents want co-education and boarding when he leaves prep school,” a source told The Sunday Times.

The strongest contender is co-ed private school Brighton College, a popular choice of senior education for those leaving George’s school Thomas’s Battersea.

Both William and Harry attended Eton College, an independent boarding school for boys.

Richard Cairns of Brighton College said: “It would be groundbreaking for the royal family but it is in tune with the feelings of modern parents.

“People feel increasingly strongly that segregating their sons from their daughters is an unnatural and not obvious preparation for a world where women and men are equal partners at work.”
