Prince Harry vows to “stop” The Crown series
Prince Harry reportedly made a vow to a reporter to “stop” the popular Netflix series, The Crown, which focusses on the lives of his family.
The Duke of Sussex made the startling statement to Royal Biographer Angela Levin during her appearance on breakfast TV, when she met him.
"I'm going to make sure I stop it before they get to me," Levin claims Prince Harry had said.
While standing beside The Crown's historical consultant Robert Lacey while appearing on BBC Breakfast, Levin chimed in about Harry's views on the series after Lacey was asked if the drama was likely to cover the recent Sussex crisis.
"When I went to interview Harry at the palace, the first thing he said to me when he shook my hand was 'Are you watching The Crown?'," the author revealed.
"And I had been at the time and I felt very embarrassed," she also said.
Skipping forward to the very end of their interview, Levin said: "I got up and he said 'I'm going to make sure I stop it before they get to me'".
The admission follows after both Prince Harry and his wife Meghan announced they would be taking a step back from their senior royal duties in order to see a self-funded lifestyle.
Memes and trolling images popped up on social media just days after, which showed Duchess Meghan –who starred on the Netflix series Suits – appearing on The Crown as herself.
However, the executive producer of the award-winning show, says it is highly unlikely to ever happen.
"To be honest, whatever the life of The Crown is after where we are now, I doubt we'll ever go as far into the present day," Suzanne Mackie told PA.
Season Three of the series, which is the latest season and currently streaming, is covering the royal events between 1964 and 1977.
Olivia Coleman stars as Queen Elizabeth II, Tobias Menzies is Prince Philip and Josh O'Connor plays as a young Prince Charles.
