100-year-old Jean Dawson started Yoga at 67

Jean Dawson just celebrated her 100th birthday on February 20th, but that by no means should make you think that she’s slowing down. The UK woman started practising yoga when she was 67-years-young, showing us all it’s never too late to try something new.

Jean took her first yoga class at the young age of 67 after seeing an ad about it in her neighbourhood, where she still attends weekly classes to this day.

She credits the prop intensive, static pose holding “Iyengar Yoga” for her health and longevity.

“I don’t know how I would be today if I hadn’t taken up Iyengar Yoga. It has given me good posture, balance, concentration, flexibility and stamina,” Dawson told Metro UK. “It has really changed my life and has helped cure aches and pains. I used to have trouble from a slipped disc in my back, but doing yoga really helped me cope with it.”

Jean may play it on the safer side and avoid the harder, more out-there poses and would rather focuses on her own abilities.

“You can only do what you can do,” says Jean.

We think she’s doing a lot. Check out her skills in the photos above.
