Readers Respond: How did your parents fall in love?
We grew up watching our parents and wondered how they fell in love…or whether they loved each other at all.
Some couples stay together for the sake of the kids, their family’s reputation, or because it's just safer or easier.
But when it comes to those happy relationships, we sit there and want to know how they fall in love.

Michelle Hartog - My dad was playing doubles in tennis, mum was on the opposition team. He said he took one look at her and said, “that's the girl I'm going to marry”.
Geraldine Robertson - My mum was a special nurse for my father who had a stroke at a very young age.
Alice McMurdo - They lived across the road from each other, since they were born. When my darling dad died it was the first time in my beautiful mum’s life that he wasn’t there.
Julie Luck - My mum was a post office switchboard operator and my dad a technician on the other side of the board. She liked seeing his feet from her side while working and liked the rest of him when they eventually met.
Anne Scott - They met at a dance and got married in 1947.
Cheryl Cunningham - I am not sure. I do know my father loved my mother a great deal although I think he loved her more than she loved him. My dad was an exceptional man and a wonderful father.
Julie Clifford - My dad saw my mother riding her bike in her teens with long auburn hair down her back and thought she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.
Nancy Wilson - Went on a picnic with friends and the guys threw me in the lake and I landed on him. And that's God's truth, we’ve been married 61 years.
Elaine Stewart - It was love at first sight when my father saw my beautiful mother at a dance and they were married three months later. They were true soulmates.
Kathy Davey - My mum was a nurse, dad a farmer. They met at a dance and eloped. Mum continued living in nursing quarters until dad got brave enough to tell the family.
