Queen Elizabeth still considered one of the most important women in Prince Harry's life

After his mother died, Prince Harry had only a few close female relatives left. Fortunately, he was able to turn to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

As working royals, Harry and his brother, Prince William, were always spotted besides the Queen at family functions, such as Christmas services, weddings and birthday celebrations.

However, Harry’s relationship with his grandmother hit a speed bump this year, when he and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, decided to step back from their working royal roles.

While the decision was met with plenty of drama and debate, and claims that the Queen was blindsided by the decision, according to the forthcoming book Finding Freedom "the Queen was still one of the most important women in [Prince Harry's] life."

The book discusses a private lunch between the Queen and Prince Harry on March 1, in the midst of the Prince’s final official royal engagements.

This lunch apparently took on a more informal tone than previous meetings.

“No titles,” an aide described in the book. “Just granny and grandson.”

Sitting in the Queen’s private apartment in Windsor castle, Harry reaffirmed that despite his feelings towards royal life, his connection to his grandmother remained strong.

According to Finding Freedom, "As they tucked into a roast lunch, the Queen made it clear to Harry that she would always support him in whatever he decided to do."

This lunch was also the moment the Queen allegedly told Harry that he and Meghan could return to working royal life at any point.

Though that seems unlikely as Harry and Meghan are now settled with their son in Los Angeles.

Luckily, it appears the relationship between grandmother and grandson still remains strong.
