Princess Mary rocked by Prince Frederik TV tell-all

Whether you believe everything you’ve seen in Netflix’s hit series The Crown or not, there’s no denying it’s got us talking. And now, Danish producers want a slice of that success for themselves, creating a new show based on their own royal family, Now To Love reports.

The series, set to focus on Prince Frederik’s younger years, is being described by the director, Christian Tafdrup, as “a great story about a young man who isn't allowed to be who he wants to be”.

Initially planned as a film called Frederik’s Younger Years, early manuscripts suggest the series will contain sex scenes, threesomes and drug-taking as it follows the early life of the so-called “Playboy Prince”.

Tafdrup said the series will also highlight the battle between Frederik and his mother Queen Margrethe over his unwillingness to take on royal responsibilities.

“He was born into all of this and he didn’t want to be that man,” he explained. “It is a mother-son drama about two different people.”

Understandably, Princess Mary and the rest of the Danish royal family aren’t happy. A spokesperson for the Danish royals told the Daily Mail back in 2014 (when the series was still going ahead as a film) that “she is aware of the manuscript, Denmark is a small country.”
