Her Majesty just banned this common everyday item from the palace

Queen Elizabeth II has banned a common, everyday household item from Buckingham Palace, an environmentally-conscious move said to be inspired by Sir David Attenborough.

Her Majesty declared war on plastic in an official edict that now applies across royal estates, which will see items like straws and plastic bottles cut back dramatically.

A spokesman for Buckingham Palace said, "Across the organisation, the royal household is committed to reducing its environmental impact. As part of that, we have taken a number of practical steps to cut back on the use of plastics.”

Plastic straws will be phased out from public cafes and banned in staff dining areas, with royal café takeaway food containers now to be compostable or biodegradable.

This move comes as the EU announced plans to make all plastic in Europe recyclable or reusable by 2030.

Her Majesty is said to have been inspired by the work of Sir David Attenborough after the pair collaborated in a recent documentary about Commonwealth wildlife.

Do you think this is the right move by the Queen?
