10 great uses for paperclips
The humble paperclip has so many uses beyond the office. Check out our ideas below and see how handy this small piece of metal really is.
1. Keep flowers in place
If you’re giving someone a bouquet of flowers from your garden, keep them secure in place by winding the wire from a paperclip around the stems.
2. Fasten food packets
Use paperclips to fasten shut a packet of chips to keep fresh, or a loaf of bread.
3. Money clip
Got a wad of cash that you need to give someone? Secure it in place with a paperclip.
4. Change bra straps
Switch your bra from regular to racer back by bringing the two straps in at the back and fastening with a paperclip.
5. Fix your glasses
If you haven’t got a tiny screwdriver handy to fix your glasses, just use the end of a paperclip instead.
6. Scratch a scratchie
Haven’t got a coin handy for your scratch card? Just use a paperclip instead.
7. Protect your razor
Use a bulldog clip to put over your razor when travelling so that you don’t cut yourself when digging through your wash bag.
8. Clean your gadgets
Place some tissue around a paperclip and then use it to get in to clean buttons on remote controls or your computer keyboard.
9. Remove gunk
The pointy end of a paperclip is just the right size to push through a clogged saltshaker, clean grime out of the spinning arms on your dishwasher, or declog the end of your glue.

In a pinch you can use a paperclip as a key ring when giving someone a spare key.
