Why some pets go grey before others

Bondi Vet’s much loved veterinarian, Dr Chris Brown, reveals why some pets go grey much earlier than others.

It turns out that wise and distinguished look that grey haired pets possess might say more than we thought. In fact, going prematurely grey could actually give a fascinating insight into their personality…

All the canine Clooneys out there better listen up! New research suggests that going grey early in life is strongly linked to behaviour that’s surprisingly far from cool and confident. In fact, our grey-bies are more likely than other dogs to experience anxiety with unfamiliar people, unfamiliar dogs and even loud noises like fireworks and thunderstorms.

While it’s still not clear whether it’s this stress that actually causes them to go silver, it seems there’s no doubt that those adorably suave and sophisticated silver foxes might need a little more comforting than we first thought…

Do you have a grey-faced member of the family? Have you found this to be true?
