What Archie’s future looks like as a royal

As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are getting ready to embark on their new lives away from the British Royal Family, many are curious as to what their son Archie’s role will be as a future royal.

However, as Archie is just 10-months-old, it’s going to be some time before he is old enough to attend official events on behalf of the Royal Family.

In a statement released on February 19th, a spokesperson for the royal couple confirmed that Harry “remains sixth in the line of succession”, which means that Archie retains his place as seventh, even though he is not formally a British prince.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently in Britain finishing off their final royal engagements before they cease to be senior working royals on the 31st of March, with Archie remaining in Canada.

However, royal commentators have said that Archie will be unable to follow in his fathers’ footsteps by attending an English school.

Zoe Burell and Angela Mollard spoke to Express about how different Archie’s childhood will be compared to his English cousins.

"Of course though with Archie all the way over in the US and Canada what is his upbringing going to be like now compared to his cousins?" said Burrell.

Ms Mollard replied: "It is interesting, isn’t it?

"Because if they stay there he isn’t going to go to a British school presumably.

"He is not going to go to Eton like his father.

"We don’t know what sort of education he is going to have.

"He might go to a Montessori style kindergarten.

"They may travel all the time, he may be homeschooled.

"We don’t know what decisions they are going to make."

Mollard continued, saying that she is aware that the couple want a “very private life” for themselves and their son.

“We do know that they want a very private life for him, whether they manage to achieve that remains to be seen,” she said.

"I feel very sad that he is not immersed in the wider family.

"Of any time this is the time to be born into the Royal Family because there are so many kids."
