Parrot alerts owner to fire tearing through his home
A parrot has saved the life of his owner after he alerted the sleeping man to a fire raging through his house in Queensland.
Eric the parrot woke his owner in the middle of the night after his timber house caught on fire.
"Eric, my parrot, he started to yell, so I woke up and I smelt a bit of smoke, I grabbed Eric, opened the door and looked to the back of the house and saw some flames," the man told 9News.
The house was destroyed in the blaze despite best efforts from firefighters to save the home.
The man and his parrot are unharmed.
