How Duchess Kate is raising her kids just like Princess Diana

The Duchess of Cambridge may never have gotten to meet her mother-in-law, but Princess Diana still has an influence on the young mum.

In an exclusive new interview with Closer Weekly, Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell has revealed that, when it comes to parenting, Catherine is following in the late Princess’ footsteps.

“Kate owes a great debt to the woman whom she never met, her mother-in-law,” he said. “Kate’s been inspired by her embracing and natural approach to life.”

Burrell added, “Diana changed the royal rulebook for the women who would marry her sons. She fought so hard to establish a regular life for them. Because she had William and Prince Harry in her custody for their formative years, she was able to instil in them her own values and morals.”

Likewise, Kate is said to be doing everything she can to ensure Prince George, Princess Charlotte and their new brother or sister experience as normal a childhood as possible. “She wants her kids to mix with other children from all backgrounds and not just have a life of privilege,” a friend told Closer.

And Prince William couldn’t have asked for a better partner in crime. “I’m very lucky in the support I have in Catherine,” he gushed. “She is an amazing mother and a fantastic wife.”

“They’re such a good team,” Burrell said. “As parents, they discuss every aspect of their children’s upbringing together. They are equal partners. They have something that Diana never had in her married life – true love. It’s obvious William and Kate adore each other, and the strength that comes from that will see them through any situation.”
