What's next for Meghan and Harry?

While royal watchers are slowly being fed details about the life of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after stepping down as senior royals, there is still a lot of information we just don’t know.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan will cease using their HRH titles from the beginning of Spring 2020, adding that as a part of the new agreement, the couple “understand that they are required to step back from Royal duties, including official military appointments. They will no longer receive public funds for Royal duties.

“With the Queen's blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations. While they can no longer formally represent The Queen, the Sussexes have made clear that everything they do will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty.

“The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.”

The Queen also confirmed before fleeing Kensington Palace that the couple’s plan to spend their time away from the UK would result in them bunkering down in Canada.

Harry and Meghan will remain members of the royal family but they are no longer “working” members. So, this means the line of succession will not affect Prince Harry as he is still the sixth in line, while his son Archie is seventh.

To support themselves, the couple will rely on financial support from Prince Charles for a year as they transition into becoming “regular” working people.

“The substantial cash injection is expected to come from his own private investment income rather than revenue generated by the Duchy of Cornwall estate which has traditionally funded the heir to the throne and his two sons,” The Telegraph's Victoria Ward wrote.

“However, a source close to the Prince of Wales suggested that this was not an inexhaustible source of funds,” she added.

Royal biographer Robert Lacey has told the Times that their achievements could mean a lot of success for the couple: “They will have success in America. And that success will redound to the benefit of the royal family. The fact remains that Harry is bringing British royal qualities and aptitudes to a new frontier. I believe there is cause for optimism.”

The clock continues to tick down in anticipation for the Prince Harry and Meghan’s independence that comes on April 1.
