Duchess Meghan’s heartfelt tribute to Princess Diana after pregnancy announcement

Yesterday, the Royal Family announced the exciting news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first child.

Following the happy news, Meghan has made a sweet tribute to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, as she welcomes in her next chapter with Prince Harry.

To kickstart her first day of royal engagements with Harry for their tour Down Under, Meghan wore one of Princess Diana’s much-loved jewellery pieces.

The 37-year-old former actress was spotted wearing Diana’s butterfly earrings and matching bracelet while out and about in Sydney.

Diana wore the set during a trip to Canada with Prince Charles in May 1986.

The tour took place a year and a half after Diana gave birth to Prince Harry.

For her first day of engagements, which included visiting Admiralty House and visiting Taronga Zoo, Meghan wore a $1800 white dress by Australian designer Karen Gee.

The designer’s website crashed at 9.20 am as photos of the Duchess wearing the dress surfaced online.

During their visit to Admiralty House to meet with Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove and Lady Lynne Cosgrove, Harry and Meghan were gifted a plush animal kangaroo with a baby joey in its pouch.

They also received a tiny pair of baby Ugg boots for their newborn to wear next year.

While holding onto the gift, Meghan said: “Out first baby gift!”

The newlyweds will spend much of their time in Australia focusing on the 2018 Invictus Games, a foundation which Prince Harry founded in 2014.
