Matt Damon photobombs Brisbane charity event and donates large sum

Movie superstar Matt Damon, 50, surprised guests at a domestic violence charity event in Brisbane and made a generous donation.

Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso, 45, have spent the last few days in Queensland and attended the event for Safe Haven at the Calile Hotel on Friday.

“My mum founded a charity fighting domestic violence. During a fundraising lunch, Matt Damon dropped in and donated $10,000,” in a since-deleted post on social media network Reddit read.

"Had the pleasure of meeting this gracious man today at the Safe Haven Community charity lunch. Matt Damon has a generous heart space ❤️ Well done to Catherine and her team at The Calile Hotel on such a successful fundraising lunch for such a needed cause," one excited fan wrote on Instagram.

Damon is currently in Australia filming Thor: Love and Thunder alongside Chris Hemsworth, which is something Damon is "so excited" about.

“I’m so excited that my family and I will be able to call Australia home for the next few months,” he said.

“Australian film crews are world-renowned for their professionalism and are a joy to work with so the 14 days of quarantine will be well worth it.”
