“It’s time to come out of the closet”: Rod Stewart reveals prostate cancer diagnosis

Rod Stewart has revealed that he was undergoing a secret battle with prostate cancer since 2016.

However, the 74-year-old UK rocker has come out the other side and beaten the disease.

He was diagnosed with the disease after a routine appointment and is now using his platform to urge men to get their prostates checked.

He went into remission early July of this year.

Stewart opened up about the issue at a fundraiser event, saying that he warned his wife Penny Lancaster that he was going to “come out”, according to The Sun.

“Tonight would be a nice night to come out of the closet.”

“No, it’s not what you think. Two years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer,” the rocker confirmed.

“No one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody. I’m in the clear, now, simply because I caught it early. I have so many tests.

“Guys, you’ve got to really go to the doctor.”

He added: “Finger up the bum, no harm done.”
