Duchess Meghan finally confirms her due date

Duchess Meghan has revealed her due date in her first public engagement for the new year with the Duke of Sussex.

The pair were spotted in Birkenhead, Merseyside, on Monday to meet with local organisations that support groups in the community.

As Meghan made her way through the crowd, she stopped to talk with fans, who excitedly asked when her due date was.

"We asked her how her pregnancy was going and she said she was six months and she tapped her tummy," Carla Gandy from Wallasey told PEOPLE.

Hello's royal correspondent Emily Nash also revealed the Duchess told other well-wishers who had congregated in the town’s Hamilton Square that she is due in late April or early May.

Meghan met another expectant mum during their visit to Number 7, which is a café and supermarket that offers discounted products to those in need.

Angel Midgeley, 27, was presented with a basket and hamper full of baby clothes and toiletries.

"I would say that I would lift it for you, but neither of us should be lifting right now," Meghan remarked before asking when Midgely, 27, is due.

She then responded, "So soon! Doesn't it fly by?"

The duo aren’t aware of the baby’s sex, as they want to keep it a surprise. When eager fans asked what the gender was, Meghan responded: "We don't know. We're keeping it a surprise – whichever way, we'll be thrilled with the outcome."
