Meghan Markle’s surprise job before acting

Before Meghan Markle rose to fame through her acting role in TV legal drama Suits, the actress had a surprising job that helped her get introduced to celebrities.

Whilst the bride-to-be was auditioning for roles, she used to work as a calligrapher.

Between 2004-2005, Meghan was taught calligraphy, gift-wrapping and bookbinding at a Beverly Hills store called Paper Source.

Paper Source CEO Winnie Park told People, “It was her part-time job as she was going through auditions.”

“She taught calligraphy and hosted a group of customers and instructed them during a two-hour class on how to do calligraphy.”

As well as balancing auditions with her job at Paper Source, Meghan worked as a freelance calligrapher and wrote invitations for Robin Thicke and Paula Patton’s wedding in 2005.

Meghan previously revealed her passion for handwritten notes on her former lifestyle blog The Tig.

“I think handwritten notes are a lost art form. When I booked my first [TV] pilot, my dad wrote me a letter that I still have.

“The idea of someone taking the time to put pen to paper is really special.”
