Inside Mary Queen of Scots’ refurbished $14 million palace
A luxurious Scottish castle has recently gone through a complete makeover thanks to a refurbishment, making way for its own private pub.
Located roughly 16 kilometres from Edinburgh, Seton Castle was known to be Mary Queen of Scots’ favourite home.
So if you have a spare $14 million lying around, the regal property could be yours.
The original Seton Palace was demolished, with the castle taking its place in 1789 designed by famous Scottish architect Robert Adam.
The historic elements of the castle are well preserved, mainly due to being in possession of one family for centuries, who owned the home from the late 18th century until 2003.
The renovation project has been a work in progress for the last decade, as they installed historic French oak flooring and rebuilt the turrets, chimneys and parapets.
“Seton Castle is simply one of Scotland’s most significant and ravishing buildings, with eight centuries of history and legend carved deep in its walls,” said Jamie Macnab of Savills Edinburgh.
“With the unstinting dedication and investment shown by recent owners, Seton Castle is now also a wonderfully comfortable and welcoming home.”
