Abandoned ghost town on sale for $2.6 million

A small and abandoned town in Connecticut called Johnsonville has been listed for $2.6 million.

The town, rumoured to be haunted, has been isolated for nearly 20 years except for a caretaker and security guard.

Johnsonville is in a prime position next to the Connecticut River but no one is interested in buying the eerie formed mill town.

The town was established in 1802 and was a bustling community complete with a store, church and post office.

In 1972, the mill was struck by lightning which caused it to burn down and the town members left Johnsonville to find work elsewhere.

Raymond Schmitt, owner of the town, tried to restore the town as a tourist destination but when that failed he attempted to make it as wedding event venue.

In 1994, Raymond tried to sell the town for $4.7 million but was unsuccessful.

The town, which is believed to be haunted by founder Emory Johnson, is on sale once again and has received expressions of interest but no firm offers.
