Dad charged with murder 16 years after assaulting daughter

A 40-year-old Carnarvon man has been charged with the murder of his 18-year-old daughter 16 years after police say he assaulted her as a toddler.
Teagan Jade Ferguson was seriously assaulted by her Father, Terrence John Bice, when she was just two years old in 2005.
Bice pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and was sentenced to five years in jail.
The court heard at the time that he threw her across her bedroom floor because he wanted her to stop crying.
The assault caused a traumatic brain injury and numerous chronic health conditions that followed her throughout her short life.
“It will be alleged that injuries received during the assault eventually led to her death,” WA Police said.
Teagan has been in palliative care since 2015 and died in Perth Children’s Hospital last June.
Her father appeared in Carnarvon Magistrates Court on Tuesday, and following this will appear in Stirling Garden Magistrates court on January 19th 2022.
