8 crazy car insurance claims involving animals
A UK insurance company has revealed some of the strangest claims it’s received in the last year from accidents caused by animals, and the stories are absolutely unbelievable. Insurance provider Admiral revealed to The Sun it settled more than 2,000 claims last year, costing an average $3,000, and some of those claims have to be read to be believed.
- Pheasants – A flock of pheasants waddled into the path of an approaching car. Despite trying to avoid them, the driver sadly hit one of the birds and veered off the road, losing control and smashing through a bush into a beer garden. Thankfully, the car was stopped by a stack of kegs!
- A rhino – While touring a safari park, a driver was stopped by a rhino, who decided to scratch its itch by rubbing against the car, leaving it with dents and paint damage.
- A peacock – One of the beautiful birds spotted its reflection in the shiny paintwork of one driver’s vehicle. Thinking it was a rival peacock, it launched an attack, causing extensive damage to all three panels on the side of the car.
- Monkeys – A mob of monkeys didn’t take kindly to a family driving through their home while on a safari, hurling rocks at the windows and pulling the windscreen wipers off.
- Deer – One driver’s Smart car sustained $5,780 worth of damage after a herd of deer tried to jump over the car, damaging the roof and chassis, writing it off completely.
- Mice – A group of rebellious rodents chewed through the motor and electrics in a man’s expensive Jaguar XKR while he was away for a six-month work trip, despite it being safely parked in his garage. They also chewed through his furniture!
- A horse – Perhaps chasing its dream of becoming a showjumper, a horse escaped a farm and tried to jump over a car. Unfortunately, it landed belly-first on the bonnet.
- A cow – An incensed bovine took its anger out on a stationary car, climbing on it, smashing the windows and leaving hoof marks on the bodywork.
