Adele has tea with Grenfell Tower firefighters

She’s proven herself to be one of the humblest stars in the music world, and on Monday, the always-down-to-earth Adele made a touching gesture to thank the firefighters who worked tirelessly to save lives during the Grenfell Tower inferno.

“She just turned up at the station and knocked on the window and said she has some cakes for us,” station manager Ben King told the BBC. “So we opened the door to her and then she took her sunglasses off and said, ‘Hi, I’m Adele’. Everyone was so shocked.

“She came in, came up to the mess and had a cup of tea with the watch and then she joined us for the minute’s silence.”

In a post on Facebook, firefighter Rob Petty described the singer as a “lovely girl, genuinely grounded and interested and humbled.”

The “Hello” singer was one of the first famous figures to visit victims at the site of the blaze, comforting survivors at a vigil held the day after the fire.
