Why Meghan Markle can never say "toilet" again

As soon as Meghan Markle became engaged to Prince Harry, she opened the door to a new life where, amongst other things, she will be encouraged to forego use of common words like ‘toilet’ and ‘sofa’.

The wedding date has been set for May 19, 2018, and already Meghan has bucked the tradition by confirming her plans to spend Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham.

Now to add to her role as a “princess-in-training”, Megan will be learning the royal ways of the world, which, according to Yahoo Be, includes replacing some of her current vocabulary with royal approved lingo.

Insiders say she will be encouraged to use the word ‘lavatory’ rather than ‘toilet’, and will relax on the ‘sofa’ rather than the ‘couch’.

And it seems she is already impressing the royal reporters.

News.com.au reports former butler and theroyalbutler.co.uketiquette guide Grant Harrold as saying, “In public life, you need to be a confident speaker, which we have seen Miss Markle doing very well during the engagement interview.

“As far as being coached on what to say, this would be something that would be discussed with the Royal Household.”

According to Vogue, Christmas with the Queen is a highly structured affair, with guests handed timetables and room maps upon arrival.

Speaking to Vogue, Claudia Joseph, author of How to Dress Like a Princess, confirmed that Ms Markle would need to pack a sizeable case for the holidays.

“She will need everything from evening gowns, day dresses and smart suits to casual wear for the Boxing Day shoot. On Christmas Day alone, she will be expected to change five times.”
