"Incredibly distasteful": Piers Morgan slams Harry and Meghan Oprah interview

Good Morning Britain's Piers Morgan has slammed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's upcoming interview with Oprah, calling it "incredibly distasteful".

This is due to the interview being aired during the Duke of Edinburgh's longest ever hospital stay as he recovers from a formerly unknown heart condition.

Morgan slammed the couple alongside co-host Susanna Reid.

"If you want privacy and want to be left alone, you don't do Oprah for two hours. It's a complete joke.

"And you particularly don't do it after hearing, as they had earlier that day, that the Duke of Edinburgh, aged 99, had been taken to hospital.

"He's now on his 13th day in hospital."

"I'm sorry, I think we're entitled to say that this is incredibly distasteful."

Moegan said that his "real argument" with the pair is the amount of money they're earning from the interview.

"They use their royal titles to make themselves astonishingly rich whilst doing none of the royal duty that the others members of the royal family have to do," he said.

Co-host Reid pointed out that it was the Queen's decision to remain titled The Duke and Duchess of Sussex despite splitting from the monarch, but Morgan wasn't having any of it.

"I think we've really got to move past they want to be left alone," Morgan continued. "You still get one-in-three saying 'leave them alone'. They don't want to be left alone obviously. They wouldn't be giving big interviews if they wanted to be left alone."

Reid said that the pair just wanted to be away from the "needling, nasty criticism" they've received.

"Well they don't want the needling, nasty criticism do they?" she said.

"Anyone might like to have a nice life where you're not constantly bashed."
