Update: Olivia Newton-John breaks her silence over reports she has "weeks" to live

Updated: Following her niece Tottie Goldsmith coming out against reports that she's on "death's door", Olivia Newton-John has come out with a video message letting fans know that she is healthy and well.

With Newton-John cheekily addresses her fans saying that the "rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated", she wishes her fans a Happy New Year and thanks them for their unwavering support.

"Happy New Year everyone! This is Olivia Newton-John and I just want to say that the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated, to quote a very famous quote. I'm doing great, and I want to wish all of you the happiest and healthiest 2019 that's possible.

"Thank you all for your wonderful love and support, for me, and for my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia. Thank you very much, happy new year!"

Earlier, Olivia Newton-John’s niece Tottie Goldsmith, 55, was given permission to speak out about the "sick rumours" surrounding Newton-John, 70.

US and Australian gossip publications had stated an unnamed sourced claimed that Newton-John’s body was "shutting down" and that she only had "weeks, not months" to live.

Goldsmith has shut down these rumours by posting a photo of her and Newton-John, saying, "Just giving you the heads up that Livvy is in good health, so let’s leave that distressing rumour where it belongs."

When Olivia Newton-John’s American representative Michael Caprio was contacted by news.com.au about the rumours, he laughed and said that the reports of his client’s demise were "hilarious".

“No she has not,” Mr Caprio said. “You might want to get better sources versus reading tabloids.”

This is not the first time that Newton-John has fought with cancer. She was first diagnosed in 1992 with breast cancer but was able to beat it. She fought it again in 2013, with cancer in her shoulder that she kept private.

When Newton-John was asked why she decided to keep quiet on her second diagnosis in 2013, Olivia said last year: "I thought, 'It's my life', and I just decided to keep it to myself."

However, with the support of her husband, she decided to go public in 2017 with her third diagnosis and spoke of the treatments that she used, including cannabis oil.

She told Channel 7’s Sunday Night program, “In California it’s legal to grow a certain amount of plants for your own medicinal purposes.

“I’m very lucky that I live in a state where it’s legal and that I have a husband that is a plant-medicine man."

She also admitted in the Sunday Night program that she had "moments" where her cancer diagnosis scared her.

"If I allowed myself to go there, I could easily create that big fear. But my husband's always there, and he's there to support me. I believe I will win over it. That's my goal," Newton-John shared.
