The moment Nicole Kidman knew Keith Urban was the one: "This is the man I hope I get to marry"
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have been married for 12 years, but it’s only recently that Kidman revealed the moment she knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life with the country star.
She told PEOPLE about the romantic gesture that made the Big Little Lies star fall head over heels for Urban.
After the pair had met at an event in 2005 in Los Angeles, they slowly grew closer in the coming months. However, it wasn’t until the country star made a very bold move that Kidman realised that he was the one.
“It was my [38th] birthday, and he stood outside with gardenias at 5am on my stoop in New York,” Kidman, 51, told PEOPLE.
“That is when I went, ‘This is the man I hope I get to marry.'”
Since that moment, it was full steam ahead for the duo.
“It was pretty intense,” revealed Kidman.
“I believed by that point he was the love of my life. Maybe that’s because I am deeply romantic, or I’m an actress, or I have strong faith as well, but I just believed, ‘Oh, OK, here he is.'”
A year later, the pair were married at Manly in NSW, Australia and have since settled down in Nashville, US.
It’s clear that the duo are still as loved up as ever, with a sweet snap that was posted on Boxing Day. The caption read “wishing you love, laughter and joy” and Kidman was cuddled up with Urban.
