John le Carré’s final novel set to be published

John le Carré’s final novel will be posthumously published this October by publisher Viking.

Le Carré’s final novel, Silverview, was completed prior to his death in December 2020 and the release has the author’s full blessing.

The author, best known for his espionage thrillers like The Spy Who Came in from the Cold and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, passed away of pneumonia aged 89.

Before his death, le Carré finished the manuscript that would become Silverview, and had been writing two other books - A Legacy of Spies and Agent Running in the Field - which were unfinished.

Silverview follows bookshop owner Julian Lawndsley, who becomes the centre of an investigation into an intelligence leak by a London spy.

The novel is set to be published in New Zealand on October 14, 2021, in the same week as le Carré’s 90th birthday.
